I was thinking there were some muffler covers on e-bay recently. If not, let me know and I may be able to help...

Mark

Thank you mark, I hope I can find one soon. I'm in no hurry to get this one fixed up. I still owe you for that 440 clutch you have me. Thanks again for the offer, I'll let you know.

Joey, I owe you as you saved me from the temptation to buy it. I believe your seller has NOS muffler covers unless he sold them all. When he offered the saw to me he had both the cover and the muffler. I believe 165 psi is excellent. A couple of mine are only 135 psi and they still pull a 36" .404 with some authority. Ron

Mark, although I have been handing out my ten series projects I have kept one - a SP70. Unfortunately the prior owner misplaced his bag of screws, so I have to round up almost everyone of them. I am thinking about new rings as it doesn't seem to be overly loaded with compression. I don't have a IPL for it (nor for my PM700 for that matter) - do you know if they take the same rings? Thanks, Ron

I agree that 165 PSI is quite good, both of mine are 150-155 PSI and they run very well.

Mark

Well, that was a cold test as I I have not started the saw yet. And the cylinder was lubed with WD-40. Realistic compression may be 155 after I run it. This saw was sold to me as a running saw, the seller says he had it running.

I just checked the box and found a new muffler cover, that seller made me a heck of a deal. I'll try to get it going in the next month or so, and not ask too many questions. Thanks for the info thus far.

I can show you where to go to get an IPL for that 700 if you'd like. This place has almost every Mac IPL.

I am interested. I still have my PM700 I brought new in January 1982. Other than a scrape on the handle bar coating from a log that rolled into it last year, it looks almost new. It was the second saw I brought. The first was a little MAC 510 which I tossed due to all the plastic and me not knowing how to keep it running. Ron

i had some free time today and got all the saws out. it about wore me out.

here was the fun part, i tried to see how many i could get running at once. i got 33 running before i got too tired to start another and i was running out of light. i tried to go get my stihls, huskys, and craftsmans but with all these macs running they were hiding somewhere. i forgot to get out the mcculloch generator. i'm beat after that......anyone want to try to top it??? 33 is the count, only one person starting all is the rules. :hmm3grin2orange:

video quality is poor, i was using my phone. i don't think i will do this again to get a better video unless i got more help.

i left some room for me to improve, there were about 30 more to try to start. i think my local town will now be inforcing stricter rules on emissions and sound ordinance after today.

I suggest you crank the MAC generator first then you can recharge yourself as needed. Fun display. I can't top it - I don't have that many saws but I know several AS members who do. Ron
