Excellent points all 'round, boys. I said this would be interesting.

The rarity of some of these saws depends on what part of the country you're from. Around here I occasionally see lots of old saws at the swap meets, rural yard sales, and auctions. I think I'm going to one this weekend that's supposed to have over 100 saws. Bet the weather's gonna be terrible too!

I have tried the swap meet, fleebay, and every were else i could think, so now its time to go straight to the source, i have had a cp125 sitting on my garage floor for about 2 months with no way to start it:msp_angry: I am looking for a recoil starter, i just need the base part that mounts to the saw with the three legs on it. i have the cover and it all works, but the legs are broke off. Is there other modle saws that share this starter (i know the sp125)? any help would be great
(pm if you have something)

A pic of it might refresh my memory. There's subtle differences in some of those starters, especially if they're on other brands beside Mac.

Can't recall if the CP has the air horn intake like the SPs and 101s or if it makes a difference on the enagagement height of the flywheel...

Here you go...

Here's a pic I was going to put in here myself. McCulloch factory 82cc SP-81/PM850 Piston/Cylinder replacement "kit" with manual oil pump, pickup line, gaskets, a coil spacer for certain models, an oil tank, and of course the cylinder and a piston and rings assembly. The piston assembly (92520) is the wrong one for that jug (it's a "C" piston, while the jug is an "A"). I've since sent the piston back to the guy I'd traded with (who'd mixed it up and sold the "A" piston to someone else by mistake) and have a 92518 "A" piston on the way to me from a guy on CSCF. The fellow I traded with refunded enough of my investment that I was able to get that correct piston on the way to me with $4 left over. It all worked out. He's happy with the saw I sent him (which WASN'T a McCulloch), and I'm happy with this "kit" and the NOS bars he sent me.

Edit:

The correct piston was waiting on the front porch for me tonight. The "kit" is now complete and packed safely away. A serious piece of mind it is!:D

Looks like you have a SP 105 flywheel cover.

Yours is the same as lot of left side starter macs
250,300,450,650,660.

what do you mean by air horn, there is a plastic ring with holes in it that goes between the starter and the saw? I have that

would a 105 flywheel cover work on a cp125(i do have a cp 125......i think)
