Points

Maybe overadvanced timing? That probably has electronic ignition, right? So maybe it's fixed timing? My Homie Super 1050 did that until I corrected the points and timing. Your arm will feel even better tomorrow, trust me.

It has points in it. I might re-set the gap and see what happens.

Runs like a champ

I sent you the heart of a lion. The saw it came out of I had nicknamed Wild Bill. Sometime I'll tell ya the story about that.
In the meantime, grab that handle like ya mean it! ;)

I am going to have to get a cushioned glove. This is the only saw I have ever messed with that I can not hold the handle and crank it. Have to put my foot on it.

While it was running and I dd some adjustments it ran like a sonofagun. Might have to name it Wild Billy after it's Pop.

Probably be best to set the points a little narrower, making it fire later. Or you could do it the hard way, finding top dead center then rigging up a timing light and trying to figure out at what degree you wanted it to fire. I'd just move the points a couple of thousandths closer and try that.
Some saws have a little tab sticking out of the points cover which should be used to set the points with.

I set them at .18 I will try that and maybe reset the coil on it. Supposed to be set at .10 but I used a business card like so many people do.

I just got a 36" rollernose bar for my sp125 from a fellow member on here. Trying to get a chain for it does anyone know if rollernose bars have more DL then a sprocket tip?

Anyone know how to tell the difference in the 1-60 series? I have one on the way here, and it is missing the air filter lid.

Hopefully you will still be able to read the model number stamped in the bottom of the crank case. There were some differences in the models along the way, most of which could have been changed by now.

1-60 through 1-62 have the removable head, 1-63 is fixed.

1-60 had the odd ball carburetor and plunger type choke on the left, oiler button on the right and would still have the lubrimac automatic oiler bits in the bottom of the crank case, a threaded plug is a dead giveaway. I'm not sure how that was supposed to work on the gear drive saws though.

1-62 and 1-63 had the rubber grips on the rear handle.

Check your e-mail for an IPL listing that covers all of the 1-60 Series and 640.

Honestly it depends. I have a General and a custom 36" roller that both need 1 more DL than my Oregons because they have fatter bellies. I could not get the chain (forget DL right now) from my Cannon sprocket nose 48" on my Oregon roller 48". 1 DL too short.

I just ordered a 104 DL (standard for 36") If worse comes to worse I'll have to break it and add required DL, I guess I should have been on the safe side and ordered 105 but who thinks ahead anyways!

hey guys, i may have the opportunity to pick up a 101AA motor that is complete. i don't know anything about this motor like how it compares to the 101B. whats the story on this 101AA? will it go in a Mac saw? the guy wants to trade it for one of my SP81's. :help:

BTW, i like you sig pic Randy:msp_thumbup:

Well, I'm finally getting around to fixing some of the saws in the repair pile. I put the fuel line on the 10-10s that I got from joeymt33 way back in the summer. The saw is great- thanks joey. The 555 that seemed like it was locked up turned out to just be a broken clutch spring wedgeing it up tight. I installed the 34" bar that I picked up for the pm 1000 I got back in the summer. It ended up requiring 110 links for that bar. Next, It will be back to the sp125 to try to figure out whats wrong with it.:msp_confused:

I think that they all have the same power levels, and the 101AA is the predecessor to the 101B. I think the exhaust is a little different, and the crank PTO may have right hand threads, which could pose a problem. Got my info here:
