I feel for you. When I started on AS good PM800s could be had for $100 to $125. Now look at them. Same thing is going on with all SP saws. SP 60s and SP70s were under $100. Pretty but non-running SP60 sold for $212.50 this week. :eek2: Ron

Hey Ron, when do we get to see the SP70 you are working on?

Yeah Ron, whats up with CPR making all the prices rise?

He must be loaded with influence and cash.

When I actually get started on it. Between work, family and the firewood ministry, I'm too tired to do much else. I intend to re-ring it at the same time as I put together my 2 toasted PM800s -sort of assembly line style. It will get done. Unlike Lee who does a saw an hour, I'm lucky to do one a year. Ron

Randy, CPR may actually save me some money because watching his kart saw thread has me reconsidering my build. I may just go with the adjustable saw carb and ditch the huge kart carb and intake. I'll decide after I get the 125 tank split. Ron

Hmm... what were you gonna do with the kart carby and intake then? :D

I'm with ya on that Ron.
I was going to do the McBob saw build but trying
to get the huge BDC carb is a pita. I may try to go
with the smaller sloper intake and use a HL360.
The fit will be much easier.

Lee, I like the sleeper approach but it looks like you have to practically destroy the saw in the process. I've only been to one GTG so I just wanted to build this saw to have a little fun on Saturdays with the firewood cutters. They're still a little awe struck by a stock 125. Ron

I am the vast yellow magnesium conspiracy...

I took a break from working on it. The nightly head-scratching was wearing me out. Quite a job to pull off and I'm not at all certain the work will be worth it.

I know the tank will still have to be cut.
But fitting the small HL i think will be much
easier and still give the 101 much more power
over the stock configuration. I really wanted
the BDC set up but for GTG's it just doesn't seen
like it will be worth the effort. A lot of hacking to
get it all to fit right.

any of you fellers know of a source for a SP80 clutch cover? i sure would had to put a 10-series on it and be ridiculed:eek2:

the only right side covers i got right now are the later 10-10s black ones

Still on the road this week but at least I'm back in CST (Costa Rica). You guys make me wish I could get out in the shop and do some work.

Vic - I would surely have a throttle for the D-30/36 if you need one, just let me know and I will get on it next week.

Jeff - Try Mo Jim, he has a few "kits" for the CP125 that has a new muffler that fits the 700/800 CP125 style block but has the guard that you need included. If you can send the Service Bulletins that would be great, let me know if you need my mailing address.

I don't remember if I posted this one before here, but a whole group of McCulloch saws were put to work one day last November including the PM800, SP81, SP70, SP105, and SP60.

Joey - I used the clutch covers off a couple of PM55 saws for the SP70 & 81, they both originally had the short covers but parts of the brake were missing and since I had them, I used them. Actually the short covers work better than the long ones anyway.
