There is a fuel pump assembly in the tank as well Shane. I can't remember if the primer on those saws draws right from the wick filter, or through the fuel pump. The 77 primer drew straight from the tank.....independant of the wick and pump.

Wrong right answer then:yoyo: I will take the plate carb off and see if I can vacuum fuel from the port on the plate. I really should have tried that to begin with.

On another note I was at a small engine place and on the floor was an Mac 890:msp_wub: The guy was putting a different carb on the saw. It has the flat back on it now. I flipped the saw over and it was stamped 790/890 and it was a gear reduction so that makes it a 890:D all the labels were missing from the top cover, right hand start

thanks Ron for the part! i got it blasted this evening and put one coat of paint on it. i'll get the painted pics up when the second coat is dry.

I see you got all the popcorn off of it. A year and a half ago, I bought 3 saws out of Washington State off CL. The guy packed them in popcorn. The squirrels loved it but what a mess. One saw was a DE80 which I sold and wished that I didn't, one was the PM850 that ProMac610 fixed and one was the SP81E that ChainsawmanXX is fixing. I believe this cover is my last piece from that purchase. I was supposed to have gotten three bars but the guy never sent them. Ron

Anybody got a small (old style) chain brake assembly for a 10-series they'd trade for a large one? I've got two of the newer style ones, and they don't fit on my 7-10.

The battle continues with this 35A:help:

I removed the bottom of the tank and disassembled the fuel pump. Found that a little cutout from the metal gasket covered had worked its way over the on hole in the pump which I assumed blocked fuel from flowing. Put everything back together and now have I have the opposite problem. The saw floods terribly. It run at the most 3 seconds before flooding out.

Fuel comes out of this hole. I have tried sadjusting the needle valve multiple times with no luck. It wants to run but not sure if there is another method to setting the needle depth?

I don't have a use for the long clutch covers, but I do have a complete (minus dogs) short CB clutch cover assembly that I'd trade for two non-CB clutch covers like the one Joey just repainted.

got the SP81 cover painted. pics:

Looks great Joey. Ready for me to send you my SP-81 and 7-10A covers for a repaint?:jester:

I was mostly joking with you, but may have to take you up on that offer. You did such a damn fine job. When I pull down my SP-81 I'll have to send the parts to you for a strip and repaint. That'll be a while though. The black parts (starter cover, tank assembly, AF cover, lower handle brace, bottom bracket) look pretty rough on that saw. The yellow parts are in pretty good shape. The clutch cover is a yellow one with black accents. Would probably just refresh the black parts. Is there flat black powdercoat? PC always looks so shiney to me. I hope that Rustoleum flat black enamel holds up well. Is it fuel resistant?

The clutch cover on my 7-10A looks exactly like the 'before' pic of the cover you just redid. If I had you redo the cover on that saw, it'd look out of place though. That saw's pretty rough right now. It'd be a good candidate for a strip and repaint as well. I'd do the yellow and black parts on that saw. I'll probably bug you about powdercoating the yellow parts of my 7-10A at some point.

I've noticed that the yellow holds up pretty damn well on my McCullochs, while the black paint on the AF covers, clutch covers, and starters isn't as resiliant. I have a rubber grip sleeve for that 650, so the 'bare' rear handle will be covered soon.

I am getting no 35A love at all tonight:mad:

I fiddled a lot more with it and after removing the main needle and pushing on the needle itself I feel it is hanging up when intially pushed which leads me to believe it might not be closing properly causing the flooding issue. At one point after reassembling the carb and trying to start it it idled for some time and after a couple throttle plips it flooded again to never run again.

Other concern is maybe the ball that seats with the metal tab over it is somehow the incorrect size? allowing to much fuel past it?

Where is Mark when you need him......seems to be MIA

this rustoleum enamel that i'm using is pretty tuff and i like the fact that its flat black. right now i don't have any flat black powder but i'll soon get some. the powder coat is suppossed to have a higher resistance to gas but i've noticed on my SP105 (that i completely stripped and powdered) that it seems be chip easer. it won't scratch or peel once it chips though. the enamel can be reapplied easily while the powder coat has to be stripped again to be redone. i did put gas on the enamel and let it sit until it dried, then wet it again with gas and the enamel stays tuff.

here is the shiney powder i put on the SP105:

Well, damn. Maybe I oughta just send my parts over and have you paint them and all.

Maybe that's why the airbrush ain't working. It don't wanna do the work...

i wish i could help with that 35A, i had one for a little while but never had that problem as it ran good. if i was smart enough to help solve you problem, i would. your right about,"where is mark when we need him" i posted a question a page or so back about setting points perfectly to get the timing right. we're all lost without our leader!
