Aaron, I haven't been able to find any MAC branded .375 .050 24" sprocket bars with the ten series mount for some time now. There is an eBay seller that I have bought a lot of MAC bars from that offers a 24" with McCulloch painted on it but it fits with adapters. If you have a source, help me please as a 28" in our log piles is too long. Thanks, Ron

Ron, Oregon still has a 24" in a D176 mount that works. I had to give $100 for mine at a generous discount from my local shop. That was a couple years ago even. At that time, there was still a lot of the Mac bars floating around Ebay at $60 + $15-20 shipping.

24" sprocket nose D276/TMX 10-series bars aren't any more scarce or expensive than the 28" SN's. Lots on feebay. Newly made 24" Oregon D176 bars are available from Baileys and others too.

What I was referring to was what Ron mentioned... Mac branded 24" sprocket nosers...

Oregon does make the 24" bar that will slap right onto the 10 series, as you mentioned. There are other brands such as Forester (don't know anything about them, just seem to be all over feebay) Sugi-Hara (need spacer plate) Husqvarna branded Oregon, and a few more that will bolt right up.

Thanks for clearing that up...

So in conclusion, you cannot find a Mac branded 24" SN bar that will bolt up to a 10 series with no adapter plate. Or at least not very easily at all.

Hmmm .... may want to check out seller gm17621 on evilBay .... he has a wide selection of Mac bars ....

That's my bar man. All of his 24"s require the spring adaptor/spacers. There are some .058 bars available and at least one .063 but I haven't found a 24" .050 sprocket nose in a long time. I check eBay every day and I have picked up some used ones. Ron

I picked up a new sprocket tip 26" Mac bar at an auction recently. Not sure I want to part with it yet, however.

Dumb me, I could have bought several but just wasn't thinking that day.

A man might be able to have too much money, but you can never have too many bars.

Try to contact member MO Jim for 24" McCulloch 10 series bars, I think he may have a few left...

Mark

Mark,
Whats the best way to contact him. I sent him a PM a while ago in regards to the muffler kits you mentioned and haven't heard back.

Jeff

I have a question for everyone concerning bar length on a stock sp125c. I have an approximately 60" bar(65" tip to tip) that will fit my 125. Will it handle a bar that long with skip sequence chain O.K. or would it be better left to a gear drive? Just wondering some of your opinions on the matter.

Thanks,
Jeff

Speaking of bars, got a sucker, victim, er I mean customer that needs a 24-28" bar for a Mac 250. He wants it to be sprocket nose and 3/8. Since this is a customer of mine I have only money.

If anyone wants to sell one let me know.

Going in the swap meet thread also.

I may have a 28" that fits. Does the 250 take the 3/8 studs? I'll check this evening.

It does have 3/8" studs. If it's a "slimline" bar, then a fellow will need the 'adapter plates' (actually PM105 bar plates) that Bryce is selling for $4.50 a set to keep the chain from digging into the saw.

Bryce has listed McCulloch 10-series MCCULLOCH labled 24" sprocket nose bars in the past. The listings expired without the bars being sold, so he may still have them. When his auctions run out, he doesn't immediately relist. That guy has a HUGE warehouse full of saw parts to list. I'll bet a person could contact him and luck out.

We weren't talking "McCulloch" branded sprocket nose bars (in specific) until Ron spoke up. Meatsaw was looking for a 24" SN bar (no mention of branding) and shop monkey incorrectly stated that 24" sprocket nose bars for these saws (again no mention of "McCulloch" branding) were much harder to find and expensive than 28" bars. I addressed that comment with a true statement (that 24" SN bars for 10-series aren't more expensive or rare than 28").

I mentioned D176 bars WHICH ARE a perfect match for 10-series McCullochs. I also mentioned Windsor TMX bars. Ron posed a NEW question/statement regarding "McCulloch" branded bars (in specific), then shop monkey made his revised "in conclusion" post, using Ron's NEW question to shore up his original shakey statement. Stupid, arrogant kids. There may not be any "McCulloch" branded SN 10-series bars (or other 10-series SN bars) listed on feebay RIGHT NOW, but they have been recently, and will most assuredly will be again. There are other sources besides feebay too (MoJim, and others). I have a "secret" source. I know of at least one other that a friend here can contact for me (it's local to him) if I ask. They're around...

Here's are some bars that my "source" (to be revealed to Ron in a PM) has/had. I now own the 24" Windsor TMX Speed Tip SN bar in the middle of this pic (with the black sharpie writing on it). It's on my PM700 now. The 20" bars above it and the 28" bar below it are McCulloch branded Windsor TMX Speed Tip bars (as were many of the ORIGINAL black/yellow and grey/black McCulloch branded 10-series SN's). I don't see the huge need for "McCulloch" branding on a bar that's actually going to be used in the wood. A show/shelf saw is another story. A fellow could always strip (or paint over) a new non-McCulloch branded bar and then stencil it with the desired logo. Sugar Creek has stencils...

Thanks, guys. I'm just looking for quality 24" sprocket nosed bars that I don't have to use the little round spring spacers; it is not necessary that they be painted like a MAC.

Aaron, I just noticed that the MAC short bars are the same as the Windsor so they all are using Windsors tips.; I was thinking in error that the different rivet pattern indicated a different manufacturer. Ron

Ron, the Oregon Power Match solid body (Non laminated) sprocket nose bars are available from Tree Stuff or Bailey's for $68 + shipping. Part number is 240RNDD176 for 3/8" X .050, 24" No spacers needed on Mac 10 or Poulan.

I put the bar on a 250 I happen to be working on and wouldn't you know... it fit! 26" of usable bar measured from the front of the tank. Replaceable tip, 3/8 sprocket nose Oregon bar painted grey and in pretty good shape.

Let me know and I mean fast! Leaving for Seattle for a month business trip and that means it has to be shipped tomorrow as I'm gone Friday early morning.
