Okay guys and Mac Freaks ( You have to love yellow and black, its the law). If not, you are a ****-lite.:clap:

My chainsaw mentor actually came to me needing something. He gave me my first mac and also gave my son his first saw.
He is a older gentleman and doesn't use a computer so he asked me for help.

He has closed down his shop but still works on saws for close friends. He also puts up with my occasional visits and countless questions.

He is working on a MS1846AV and need a discontinued oil pump assembly.

part No. 9228-310208 (I believe that is it)

If any of you can help me with that I would be deeply in your debt and give you Uncle Moustaches 168th born.

Thank you in advance for any help.

There are none to be found in the system, its a very common problem, and I also have one of them and another in a Craftsman version to repair with the same part. Good luck.
The Sears saw was bought 10/19/06, and has been dead about 6 yrs. according to the owner.
I guess Uncle M's 169th and 170th are spoken for also, but it will only be a couple years longer for them.

O.K. guys, in anticipate of hitting page 895 while I am flying for the next 36+ hours, please forward these photos...

Maybe Sawbones will come along and add the action shot of that one.

Here it is. Ron

MS1846AV = Mcculloch Saw, 18" bar, 46cc engine, anti-vibration

It's one of them newer plastic throw-away Macs.

Not a lot of parts around for these, to my knowledge. Probably best bet is to look for a parts saw.

MS, I thought maybe it was a Stihl but he had too many numbers. I've got one of those old throwaway macs parts saws but don't know if the parts will fit on his.

I pulled up an IPL for those plastic Macs and the oil pump for most of them is MC 301304.

IIRC, the pump is on the flywheel side when that number is used. This is on the other side, sprocket driven. Off hand I have no other knowledge, as I haven't broken down either one. There's a worm gear, plastic of course, and I don't know if another saw other than that one would work. Its a different design than the older style Macs like this, as the oil tank fill is in the normal place, and it has a very Poulanish muffler on it.

Page 895 came and went while I was flying...thanks to Lee for joining in on the fun.

Ron, I'm not sure what the 197 refers to but it is not the compression at this time anyway.

Now safely in Australia for a couple of weeks, hopefully I will have a little time along the way to see another saw or two.

Then is it on to Singaore (no saws there) and finally Vietnam again (hope to start searching for one of the war era Remington's) before coming home in March.

Regards all,

Mark
