I rescued another 10-10 this week that was probably headed to the trash...all it needed was the points cleaned! Great running saw now!

That's SWEET. Great job. I want to add a RH start 10-series like that to the stable someday (for some reason that 'look' is growing on me). I like the early flywheel cover with the cast in grill. Don't want to mess with 'bullfrog' carbs however. Yours is one of the SDC equipped saws. Perfect. That one's in NICE shape too. Hard to believe people will throw things like that away. I rescued a LH start 10-10A from a dumpster back in 1992 or so. Gave it to my boss (a really good friend) as he used to tell me how much he missed his old 10-10. It had a broken recoil spring. Don't know if he ever fixed it. I hope he did. He had me replace the crank seals in the 031AVE that he'd owned since new.

Those early LH start 10-10's pop up on the local CL every once in a while. Same with the early LH start 10-10's. If I pick up a LH start early 10-10 (instead of a RH start saw like yours, or a Super 2-10 or other saw of that style) then I'll swap a RH start clutch, clutch cover, and 'cast grill' flywheel cover onto it. Not really any good reason to do it, other than wanting to have one with that 'look'...:D

That's the one Jim. It will bolt to most large frame McCullochs from the early front-tank 1-40 family through the CP125. Doesn't work on the SP105/PM105/SP125 though. There's another box-type muffler that ONLY bolts to the PM/105/SP105/SP125 type saws.

Won a battle today over a stubborn 450 with the famous Mac carb, but got her finally going. The saw does not belong to me, but to a guy starting his own collection as well and guess what....he did like big Macs, go figure. Drove about 80 miles to my place cause he was desperate to get it going, and he gave up months ago.

somebody had fiddled with the choke assy badly, so had to block it. Also needed a new sugarcreek carb kit, works fine !
Now need to cold start it with my "manual injection system', LOL. Thumbs up also for Mark Heimann for his excellent thread about Mac carbs

Timing was also way off, so had to readjust the ignition

A saw with very low hours, runs like a champ now.

Nice bar and chain also.

I put the Sp 81 to work on a few of the bigger trees we fell today.

I've had, and still have several of the 10 series type saws and I've never had one with the "bullfrog" carburetor. This saw is a near twin to a 10-10 I've had for awhile. I started to sell it on ebay and pulled the ad after a couple of days of no bidding, it gave me time to decide I just wanted to keep it.

Need help with a Mac 110

Hi folks,

I have a mac110, new to me, I have replaced the diaphragms and gaskets and it will always start on the choke but wont run. After the first firing it won't even try to fire. Any ideas of what I might have wrong?

Many thank, don't need this saw I have others but I'd like to get it running all the same.

Did you clean the carburetor good when you put the diaphragms in it? I usually dip mine in carb cleaner rather than spray it.

I've had coil issues with those saws that would mimick carb issues. Just like you said, it would start but not run rev up. I've only had that problem with the electronic models though. The points type minis are usually much more reliable in those saws. I've probably got 6 or 7 minis that are electronic ignition models that dont run. How would you describe the spark? Thin and orange or fat and bright?

With that said, anyone looking for mini parts? I can help.

jr. - I have not been able to add photo's for several days, evidently something is going on with the system or the server.

By the way Roland, nice job on the 450. Those saws were pretty impressive in their day but are badly overshadowed by what a more modern saw can do. Even so, I think I'd rather run my 1-72 than the 066 Stihl most days, you simply sound and feel like you are getting more work done.

It looks like either something is wrong with the site or they've changed things, again. I was able to post a pic today by downsizing pics in "my documents" and copying them and pasting them in the post. I forget exactly how I did it but it still can be done.
