It was the points cover that was cracked. In my picture I had taken the oil pump out, it's the same one as in the super 250. So guess I'll tear into the pump and see if any thing looks bad. I have the IPL, thanks. Is that a 550 in the background?

Good eye. That is indeed a strong running McCulloch 550. I didn't see the oil pump in your pic. Just a dark area in the fuel tank where a DD type pump would go. Must've been my eyes....

I need a week off in the shop, too. Not going to get it though, too much to do. Neglect has led to an infection on my yellow bench...

Me too!! The whole family has been sick for the last two weeks. Started with me and just moved through the rest. I think I might be getting it again:dizzy:. I havnt seen my bench in the last two weeks. Need to finish tweaking some carbs.

No Mac posts today? Here is a picture. I splurged.

Yes you did Dan! I was watching those sell off over the last few months. I believe ou got the last large frame Mac RN from that guy. He still has some hardnoses, and at one time had a few RN's for the 10-series saws. Spendy, but REALLY cool.

So where were these listed for sale? eBay?

Never saw 'em ...

I was watching those bars as well, but even I was not prepared to spend quite that much, not even for a really, really cool bar. Congratulations.

On the other hand, thanks to the Duke I was able to add a D45 to the collection even from the other side of the world! Evidently e-bay / Paypal do not block transactions from Singapore. I tried once from Argentina and had to wait until I got home to call them from my home phone to get my account unblocked.

I don't think I will try to buy anything this week, I imagine that Vietnam may not have such a good reputation.

If all goes according to plan, I will be home on Saturday, exactly one month after leaving for this Australasian adventure.

Man! I would love to have a bar like that, but I have less money in my fully restored pro Mac 800 and SP-125 together for what those rn bars cost on eBay.

Where in the mac line does a 790 fall performance wise? I looked at Acres already but just wondering real world performance vs paper.

At 103 cc the 790 and 795 are just a bit behind the SP105, still really strong saws when you have one with good compression and tuned properly.

The biggest drawback to the 700 saws was the lack of antivibration, if you need to run a big saw all day there will be smoother units out there. If you want a big saw to cut some cookies and make some noise, the 790 would be all right.

As best I can determine, the biggest difference between the 790 and 795 is the addition of the compression release on the 795.

790 is 6 cubes of power. It'll get your eyebrows up, at least :msp_biggrin:.

Well I picked one up but its not a runner...Or at least not yet. Havent checked into it to see what it needs but I hope to soon.

Thanks Mark, If I ever get this one running I may need to compare it to some of yours.

:msp_w00t:

I find that hard to believe.

:hmm3grin2orange:

Yeppers. Had them listed for a few months. I was hoping he would relist 'em for MUCH less. Last I saw, he still had some NOS hardnoses from the same era. Also spendy. I'll send you the links when I'm back on the home computer.

Hello fellas, I got another McCulloch given to me. It is a Pro Mac 700 and I got it to run, but I need a carb kit for it. Do you guys know which carb it is. I got on acres internet and did a search with the walbro part number they had and it came up 0 results. I am pretty anxious to get this ole girl runnin. One last question, what is the max bar length you would run on this one. I would like to find an ole McCulloch sprocket nose to put on it. It only has a 16" bar on it now.

I may not be the most edgamicated mechanic here.......But I think if YOU have the saw,,,, you're in the best position to know which carburetor is on it.
Hint....under the air filter...
(Just hosing you...)
