Model 600439D Ser 14- is indeed a Pro Mac 850.

I have an SP60 that I like, it's not as fast as the 7-10 or SP81's but still a nice little saw.

Mark

Thank you Mark, I thought so but wasn't 100%. I will need the SP60 for parts unless I can come across another 850.:D

Thanks for all your help guys with my DE80. Ive learned a very good lesson today. Lack of fuel causes lack of combustion lol. All the lost sleep and beating my brains out trying to think of what I did wrong turned out to be the new fuel filter come off the end of the fuel line, thus floating instead of sucking up the fuel. I came home today and tore the carb apart again before I found it. So I zipped tied it on the line. It fired right up and ran beutifly. It was worth the trouble. Thanks again guys.

Jim once again you suck. Be sure to closely check the IPL's. I don't believe the SP-60 AV parts will work on the PM-850. Could be wrong however...

They LOOK to be the same shape and size, I only really need the one under the gas tank behind the oilier, but the original might just need to be bent back into shape, I will need the rear handle and gas tank from the SP60 as the PM850's is broken, then some clutch side pieces. It will end up looking like a sleeper SP60 with a 5 cubic inch motor.

VAC or beach time Randy?:D

I think Randy should get some pics of his yellow saws leaning up against a nice red wood tree.

Aaron, I got a lead on some yellow gold, guy is supposed to deliver them on monday, the anticipation is killing me. Ran into this guy walking out of the scrap yard today hands full of saws, says he wants to talk to me so I set my saws down at the back of my Tahoe and walk over to him. He owns a salvage yard north of here and while cleaning up a property he found a handful of large McCulloch chainsaws and spread his arms out saying the bars were this long. I ask what he wants for them and he says nothing, he would rather have some one who appreciates them have them then for them to be thrown away, then hands me his card and tells me to leave him a message with my number so he can call me when he gets to town on monday to deliver them. I won't be able to sleep.

Holy crap Jim! I take it back. You don't suck.:popcorn:

Got admined Aaron.
I exceeded the limits of my coping skills.

Ouch. Will hurt on the paycheck, but will do the mind a world of good. I'm at the limit of my coping skills too. 'They' noticed, and gave me a month's reprieve by sticking me at the front desk. At least I won't get in trouble this month (probably ànyways) and get some phone/net signal there. I'll call you to BS soon.

They pay when you get admined, just be short the shift differential, a whopping $27.
I look at this way, I have three reject slips for time off, this way I don't burn my vaca time.
It started the minute I got in there, a half hour later I asked to be relieved, my right to do so, they refused. I raged on for nearly two hours, came close to megatonage, my eyes changed colors. Funny to see burly guys, trained for hand to hand, give me a wide berth.
I'm blaming it on solar activity.

Randy/Aaron - - with all the smack-down in N Cali, I'm glad I'm in this corner of the US!!

And Jim does suck... check out his full haul in the thread he started. Plus more on the way!

homelitejim, If for some reason those SP60 parts don't work out for you, I think I may know a buyer. :msp_blushing:

Mcculloch auto oiler help

I recently picked up a 650 and the crankcase had a lot of bar oil in it. I have tore it down and maybe it is the gasket between tank and stuffer, but what else should I be looking at? Impulse gasket looks good between tank and pump.
Thanks
Dan

And pictures of the 650. Looks like it was a forest service saw at one time. Was kind of beat up, the crankcase cover was about broke in half and had been JB welded. The epoxy had broke loose. Has a tillotson carb on it. I really like the interchangeability of these saws, had a super 250 parts saw and the crankcase cover was the same. Can't wait to try out this 87cc gear drive

A lot of those 650/660 gear drives were used by forrest service units. RandyMac logged many hours with them when he was with the CDF. I like my 650. Almost traded it off a few times, but am glad I kept it. They're pretty compact and light for a gear drive of that size. Mine's a 3/1 gearbox saw. They were also sold with 2/1 gearboxes. If you want an Illustrated Parts List (IPL) for these saws, send me a Private Message with your email address. Here is my 650. Came to me with a McCulloch primer-type carb. I swapped in a Tillotson HL63.

Nice looking saw you have. I love the look of the front tank Macs, and with that widened clutch cover it just looks mean. Do you have any suggestions on my oil problem?

Thanks. The cracked/repaired crankcase cover you mentioned..............was that the cover on the left side of the engine that the points box is in, or the crankcase stuffer that fits between the fuel tank and the engine block? It looks to me like your saw was one of the variants that had the auto-oiler pump built into the fuel tank cover/bar mount casting, rather than one of the versions that had the direct-drive saw style pump inside the fuel tank. The auto oiler pumps on these saws are crankcase pressure pulse driven. If certain seals or gaskets are leaking, bar oil can be drawn into the crankcase. I haven't worked on a 650 variant like yours. Mine has the DD type pump within the fuel tank. Both types are covered in the late 650/660 IPL that I have. It supercedes all the earlier IPL's for these saws (according to McCulloch).

It was the points cover that was cracked. In my picture I had taken the oil pump out, it's the same one as in the super 250. So guess I'll tear into the pump and see if any thing looks bad. I have the IPL, thanks. Is that a 550 in the background?
