Ric, that is the "Roto Pruner" attachment for McCulloch units. The idea was to cut the branches without tearing or splintering the cut. I have seen them in literature with a pole extension so you could reach up in the tree as needed. They were promoted at spining at 6,000 RPM, but with one direct connected to a BP-1 you might be able to double that!

I dunno Mark, that may be for Sugar Maples ..... that 'guide' attachment is actually upside down. Flip it up and the bit must go upwards at a 45 degree angle. Pull out the drill and insert the tube, hang your sap collection bucket on there and you have it.

Yes/No/Maybe?

I tried to buy a Mini-Mac at the local small engine shop and the owner said it wasn't for sale...sad!
They are all over the place......its a crap shoot if you get one
Running or not.:hmm3grin2orange:

I have some of those parts if you want to PM me.

If your talking to me joeymt33 is hooking me up with the muffler parts. Although it may not be correct for the saw I'd like to put a clean 10" bar and chain on it, got that laying around?

How about a little McCulloch action?

SP81 with 28" bar burried in a soft maple. I forgot to move the spike over when I change clutch covers (brake bad broke on the other and I haven't had time to replace it yet). Even so, that saw went right through the big solid log without hesitation. Later on Jeff was using it to noodle up some of the ugly crotches and got it in the dirt...that slowed it down.

Somewhere in the middle of one of the limbs, Josh hit a screw with his Jonsered, cut it the full length and did a number on his chain. I used my Titan 57, the SP81, and Jeff's Timber Bear as well as my 036 (just a little guys, it needs to run once in a while too). That's my garage there in the middle of the background.

The whole crew standing proudly in front of the pile. We only added about a row and a half today, and I still have a bit of room in case I come across any more projects. L-R older son Jeff, grandson Grady, ME with my lovely granddaughter Kingsley, younger son Josh, and his wife Roxanne.

i've got several NOS 10" bars but i'd sell it for the same price that you could get one on Ebay. if you get one from me, that would be fine. if not, check ebay. PM me if you'd like one with a chain. FYI, the 10" bars are hard nose.

Just got to pro mac 850's today and another on the way don't no much about them they both need carb work but run by squirting fuel down the carb. Both saws don't have brakes but one has decompression hope to get them ship shape and burning though wood in no time. Pics coming soon.

A few years back on the swede site somebody posted an ad pic of a similar bit that was sold for maple syrup.

Could have been Lewis B or Tom H but somebody has a picture of the same drill head but on a longer stick.

I stand corrected on the Roto-Pruner ....

... but I learned something!

In the pic it looks like the device is hooked up to a 250ish powerhead. Looks HEAVY!

Found a MAC Eager beaver saw(2.0 engine I believe) locally with a 14" bar/chain. Saw is complete but does not run. Turns over, its not locked up. Im assuming its fuel lines but wont know untill I can open it up. I can get it for $25, should I go for it or is it junk?

Make sure it has spark. The one that I have needed fuel line but the carb is still not right. It runs but on half choke.

In my experience, the electronic ignition models are very prone to failure. If you find one that has points, then it will be cheaper to replace those points than a electronic coil.

Yeah I just wanted to know if i should get it or not for $25. If i pick it up I will go through everything. Thanks

Another thing to look out for, just spark alone isn't enough. I've had them in my shop with spark and still won't run. I'd try another coil and get a brighter fatter spark and the saw would run great.

OT - You might be better off saving your money and waiting for a nice 10 Series to come along. Almost any of the 10-10 saws would be more fun and productive to run than a little plastic Mac.

If shipping weren't cost prohibitive, I could send you 3 or 4 of the little Mac's to tinker with but the end results would not be any more satisfying.
