this guy followed me home today. It does everything it is supposed to even has documentation. Not sure what the compression is supposed to be but it starts right up. The bar is toast. there is a chunk missing and it is washed out. Anyone have a 24" bar? Looks like 404 in .063??

Welcome to the Super 250 Club .... please proceed to posting your pix in that thread .... congrats!

XL Automatic

I just picked up 2 XLs and a Craftsman 2.3/38 for $25.00. The best XL has 150lbs comp but no spark. It is fitted with the Wico points ignition. I would like to check the points under the flywheel. Do you need a puller to remove the flywheel. I removed the nut that holds it on but it won't move. This one came with a 20"bar and a used up chain. It will need at least new lines, new filters and a carb kit. But don't want to invest if I can't get spark. The other XL has spark but only 90 lbs comp. It's ign is the Phelon version and I think I could do a swap if I can't get the Wico to work.

Are we having fun yet!

now people are just dropping saws off at my shop. saves gas that way. "erb" you still looking for a carb for that bigbore yellow saw? if so let me know.

If you like Poulan saws but don't like the green you can always buy a Craftsman. They have them in several colors. I don't think they make them in orange and white though.

Dayton and Wright branded Poulans are orange. Husky 23 and 25 branded Poulans are orange too. Here's my Dayton branded 245SA next to my 7-10A. Poulans and McCullochs get along just fine together. They gang up with the old Homelites and laugh at the furrin saws...:D

Holy crap Fraser.

Wouldn't happen to be a 24" bar that would fit my 250 super in that pile would there?

I've got a large frame McCulloch 24" hardnose and a loop of .404 that I may part with. It'd work fine on your S-250. I believe it's .058G however, so when it's time to replace the chain you'll have to either look for .404/.058G chain or convert the saw to 3/8" pitch and run common 3/8-.058G chain. PM me if you're interested...

MAC Vacation

While on vacation this week in Florida not far from where I was raised, I thought I would check the local Craigslist to see if perchance my father’s saw might be listed. Of course it wasn’t but there was an older listing for a 125C. A 125C in Florida , it must be a scam but what the heck – I texted the number listed and asked if the saw was still for sale. It was. I couldn’t meet him then so I told him that I would check back the next day and if he hadn’t sold it I would meet up with him. I was half hoping he would sell it that night but come the next day he still had it. He agreed to meet me just off the interstate. His dad bought the saw new in Virginia and brought it south to Florida when he moved and started a tree service – Big R Tree Service. Sadly dad is apparently all used up now and he gave the saw to his son. The son told me his dad was a real hoss in his day - 6’7” and 400 plus pounds. He claimed to have a picture of his dad holding the 125 in one outstretched arm. The guy seemed credible and he was quite a hoss himself (a stout 250# at 5’ 6”). He was a little sad letting it go as he, like me, toted his dad’s saw as a lad. I paid him his asking price as it was certainly worth it. He said I wouldn’t believe how many calls he got from California – I wasn’t surprised – but fortunately for me he didn’t want the hassle of shipping despite above asking price offers. I guess this put me in Mitch’s exclusive original east coast 125 club. Ron
