Thanks for the link... I realized that I actually have the update in a kit that has the welch plug and ball to replace the screen. I didn't pay much attention to the kit when I got it I just put in the box with all my other parts and gaskets I'm getting for future projects. So now I don't need this screen anymore. I didn't want to pay 9 bucks for that either so I'm glad I seen I had the update in the kit. I do appreciate the help from you guys anyway for finding this stuff. I did a search but didn't use the right words I guess...

I came up with three numbers; Oregon 10608 and McCulloch 50129 are .404 7 tooth spur type drum to fit the 5/8"shaft and McCulloch 52878 is a standard large spline to fit to fit the 5/8" shaft. These are only available with a brass bushing instead of a bearing. All of the other drums I found with bearings will only work with a 9/16" shaft.

No doubt there is an Oregon drum with splines as well but I did not find one in the attic.

Thanks Mark for the info. I was wondering if it might be better to switch to 3/8" and a sprocket nose bar as I've heard that a plain nose/solid bar is inefficient. All my other saws are using 3/8" as well. Having asked all that I don't suppose I'll use the 1-42 with any seriousness, but interesting questions anyway.

All the Best for the Season!

Lee - just get one with a standard spline (Mc 52878 or eq.) and put what ever sprocket you wish.

My SP81E arrived while I was away, I now have it all apart for a good cleaning and will see what else is needed, certainly the AV mounts are shot, muffler is good, has spark and 150 PSI compression. Notice that the previous owner was not quite satisfied with the original anti-vibration system.

I think I can find all the parts needed to make the chain brake operational again, will have to rob a spring and latch from a spare long clutch cover I have in the attic.

Nice! Thanks Mark! I just earlier today found the origional Phenol coil for mine buried in a box in the basement and was scratching my head trying to figure out where it mounted. Now, I just need modules and a bottom handle....I think.

What's this little fella? I'm guessing 10-10A, but not sure. There's a Sabre chain sticker covering the model number. I've got an email in to the seller, and might pick it up this week.

Dave - there were two "triggers" and one coil coming in one lot on e-bay recently, haven't seen them looking through tonight.

Steve - looks to be a 10-10, fun little saws and more sound per pound than most 54 cc saws.

Whoever was looking for the air filter anchor for an SP125, there is a listing for one up on e-bay right now.

It was me who was looking for the air cleaner anchor. Actually I have an entire list of parts coming from that seller (axman).
Thanks,
Bill

Please let us know where you found them and the industry standard number or size to make it easier on the rest of us!

Thanks

Mark

It was found using the McCulloch part number on the IPL's. PM me for the website, its not a site sponsor and im not looking to get in a pissing match with moderators and sponsors:cheers:

Mark from memory that the type of ignition unit that Mac superceeded real quick i believe made by Phelon and fitted a one piece unit all the new units i sold had to have them replaced under warranty

McBob.

Thanks Dennis - I did receive it and have replied back.

Bob - This one certainly has the original two piece system and did have spark before I took it apart, hopefully will again when I put it back together. I don't plan to use it on a regular basis but it would be nice to have an original 81E operating. Do you know if the electronic coils from later saws will work in this set up?

Too long ago now cant remember for sure show a pic of the coil unit ..... just maybe another coil will fit up but sure if the timing would be right .....

I too have one here amongst my collection dont know wether it has spark or not i have never checked.

you can see the 10-series coil and the titan coil. i used the lamination from the titan coil to make it work

this is on a 620 titan though, it is probably different compared to a 50/57 but i'm not sure about that

I finally got back to this. I don't think this will work because the coil for the titan 50 is very small relative to those and it fits into a depression in the case so I think my only option is to try to find yet another coil.

I am not sure where to find it again, but someone noted there was another electronic ignition unit that worked on the Titan 50/57 saws. Seems like it was a common unit used on other saws or trimmers.

Perhaps someone will see this and remind us where those alternative units can be found...
