Those were installed with medium strength thread compound. They can be a little tough to remove. Maybe heat will weaken the thread compound.

What will heat do to the Mag case?
I do not care about paint, but I do not want to hurt the case.
Common Sence dictates quick and as little as needed.

Just so you know folks, If you go to a gtg you can run saws you may never get to own or run. I am still lookin fer a sp-81 cause of this gtg. Never would have otherwise.

Come down to AL and I'll let you run them all and maybe drive that '67 Ford. That was a good time, thanks for posting that.

A friend of mine picked up this 200 at a yardsale in Northern Wisc. It even came with an extra new chain. :msp_biggrin:
The owner said it ran fine. The piston looks new. He gave $2.00 for it and was nice enough to give it to me.
Are these decent saws?

Hey All,

I was thinking of changing out the flatback on the 797 to something like this:

This is a HL-360A, thought it might perform better...

Am I on the right track or am I wasting money?

Thanks for your thoughts!

It may keep up with your WT, and is near as noisy.

Way to much carb for a stock 797.
Stick with either an HL19, HL63 or HL103

Arrowhead-

Nice score!

Mac made a ton of those by many different model numbers...the 1-40,41,42,43,45,46,50,51,52,200,250,300 etc.

All are essentially the same, some had full wraps, different muffler styles, but basically the same. Some of the early ones (1-40 comes to mind) had a removable head as well.

Yours is in fantastic shape, every Mac collection should have at least one variation of the 200, esp with an original bar and bar cover.

200s were designed to provide a lifetime of service and to be handed off to the next generation. Longevity and durability with mid range power and rpms are what they are about, plenty of power for 20-24" bars

On a related note, Terry hooked me up with a .040 piston, straightened the con-rod and installed it for me.

Going for the blind bore, with some "work" to the ports:laugh:

Thanks for the lead Lee.

What's the recommended/ideal wall clearance?

I am wondering of all the front tank models and years produced what model is the most mass produced? My guess would be the standard yellow top 250.

Yup, too many turns to make and the reed plate is like running into a brick wall. The motor can handle it, but the intake passages can't.

The Rocket beat me up the other day. Wanted to run it, but couldn't get it pumping fuel. After a half hour, I was exhausted priming and cajoling. May try again tomorrow morning. I haven't started it in 7 or 8 months.

Be carefull with what you do to the ports.
What ever you do you have to do to the
opposite side as well.

Go with .0045 to .005 clearance.

640-895

Hallo

Anyone knows if its possible to replace the engine of a 640 with the motor 795 to have a
895 then? The gearcase is the same but i dont know yet if the 640 clutch fits on the 795 engine.
Thanks
E.
