Spalted maple is about 42” long and 37” diameter.

Cherry was small. 10’ long and maybe 22” diameter. Don’t know if I posted the cherry already. Guy told me they were BIG!! He said probably 40” diameter 🤣🤣. Lol. The most unreliable thing iv found is the customers ability to measure things.

Pretty silver maple!

Hey Dad! Do you remember when I ran into the tree with 5303 and broke the tie rod end? Well, I think I found it. lmao OT
had I guy ask me to stop by and quote milling a “big maple”. I said sure sounds good.

Then he finished the conversation with me”yah we used to shoot our guns into it all the time….”

Needless to say i never quoted that 🤣

Lead ain't so bad (on a chainsaw), it's the dang steel that'll really get ya! Lead just feels like you hit a little streak of mockernut hickory 😂

Milled up 2 of them, nice stuff. Spalted maple. I've also discovered that you can see the spalting on the outside of the logs. It surrounds the outside checks in black streaks that are actually powdery, that's probably how it enters the logs to start with. Similar to dry mold but I'm pretty sure it's the black spalting fungus. On some of them there were a lot of it, enough that you could collect a decent amount if you wanted. Just another way to more easily identify the spalted stuff without having to cut into it first.
