Hey dr, why don't you just adjust according to your friction cones? Of course, you might need to run a fishing line with a phillips head through your reeds, out your plug hole, and back in through your exhaust in order to get to the back side of the torqx nut that holds the friction cones on.

ummmm, cuz the plug doesn't tell much.

no bore scope???????????????

Well, lets see, I go out to BFE and cut wood, no I have enough crap to carry around, don't need a borescope to add to that list. As the weather changes all the time here, I have to adjust all the time here. It's a lot easier to adjust to the "burbble" and run it. Pull the plug at break time and have a look when you change out the chain.
It's a chainsaw, not the spaceshuttle!!

i was hoping freakyfriday would step into my trap about teh weld splatter, but he didn't.

it turns out that weld splatter can go back down inside the muffler. Which si no big deal unless it falls back into teh exhaust port. Which given a chain saw I would suspect is a possibility.

So it sure seems to me a good idea would be to knock that splatter off ever so carefully so you don't hang a ring or stick metal into the head.

oops. wrong thread.

so you guys jumped me for not knowing how to jet a saw. I told you how I did it.

then, you folks made fun of my method.

to be fair, I do verify with wash.

so, tell me a better way.

redneck, you are a lot nicer on other sites without your buddies.

I am trying to be nice, I promise, it's not a gang thing. The deal is I am an idiot, I know very little about these creatures, but am trying to learn. I just asked you to chill a bit and learn with the rest of us.

(poke on shoulder) I can throw him out if you want me to. . . :jester: :ices_rofl:

The plug tells a lot, you just have to have a lathe to get the results of the plug....

oh wow. please explain how it takes a lathe to read the results of a spark plug.
a lathe seems like it might be even heavier then a borescope.

Nah, he's harmless, just needs to figure out we are all asking the same questions.

Not wanting to throw you guys off your current path.. but... topic shift..

It's been said the limiter on coils is an "EPA thing". Not so sure... When a coil limits, it (the saw, not the coil) REALLY dumps unburnt hydrocarbons out... Spark skipping...

I think it's a design issue - make light components then make sure they don't do around too fast (I'm keeping it simple...)

Thats because nobody made a thread on splatter shield. LOL
Hey freak go to farm and fleet and pick up a can of splatter shield,
spray it on and around the area you are going to weld so the spatter don't stick.

Atleast thats what the pros do. LOL

yeah, there is no way the rev llimiter is epa.

rpm limit is just common sense. sleds did it 5 years ago. interesting, but the way sleds did it is to start retarding timing. so, fi a sled makes peak hp at 8000 rpm, they start retarding teh timing at 1 degree per 100 rpm. you reach a point where the clutches make enough pull to keep rpm from cresting out.

for saws where you can freewheel them, the hard stop of rpm limit makes more sense.

Anyone know the timing curves of different saws?????

and, i think you would be better to rephrase what you wrote:

I think it's a design issue - make HEAVY components then make sure they don't go around too fast

Sorry to say it is a gang thing,
How and why do you think you got all those rep points so fast,
even you made a comment about that.

However I do like you honesty about yourself
thats why I give you r-e-s-p-e-c-t.

Really not trying to play that game manual, I could care less how much he knows, I admire his enthusiasim, he wants to learn, as do all of us, I just think he needs to step back and realize that chainsaws are not snowmobiles, and we all have alot to learn from each other!!

The rep thing, again I have no idea how I have achived the status I have, there are a lot more deserving and more inteligent people on here that should be placed a lot higher than I and I am tying to get them there every chance I can!!
