I own both a 357 Dan Henry and the 346 walkers, I feel that a 20” bar on a 346 is too big. Most of the wood I cut is shag bark hickory, oak, ash and tulip. I like the 346 when it sports a 16” bar. I feel the 357 has way more power to handle the 20 incher.

I have cut some pine with the 346 if your trees are like pine then I could see the 20 bar in your area.

But then again I have been told I shouldn’t even own a chainsaw.

How certain are you about the 357 and 346 being built on the same chassis, RB?

I'm curious because the husky site shows the 346 at 10.6 lbs and the 357 at 12.1. For comparison's sake, the show the 372 at 13.4.

I'm really wanting a smaller saw to go along with my 372, and I'm looking for something a good bit lighter to use for limbing up stuff once it's on the ground. When I saw the "same chassis" post, I thought "hey, more is better" but then I saw that the 357 is actually closer to the 372 in weight than the 346!

I reckon I should stick with a PP346 - seems like just the ticket!

Later y'all,

Matt

I have never seen a 357 up close but the 359 feels like it would be a SWEET timber thinning and general firewood saw.

Stumper The 357 will run circles around the 359.

As to the Modified 346XP until you have ran one you wouldn’t understand. I have had mine for about a year now and I love it light weight and will run with most stock saws up to 65cc with ease.

BTW Dozer if your reading this my 3120 had better be dunn before gypos saws..... I want to send that 088 of is packing to……

3120?

Eric
What 3120? You told me to sell that one for you so I sold it to Silverblue for 500.00 US.
In all honest I haven't had time to build that saw yet. I was waiting until I get the pipe for it. I did pick up a large Homelite piston for it. I have it all scratched up and ready to go.
When you get here this week I will let you run some of Lambert Loggers saws, that way you can check out the competition.

I’m not sure it a good idea for me to be running Lambert Loggers saws did you forget the last time when I ran the PP999.
Hear a picture to remind you.

With the large Homelite piston I should be able to run with the big dogs. Wow can't wait.
BTW what you told me to do to the PP346 "IT WORKED" Lambert is going to need two Art chains LOL

Hmmmmm

Uhh, pardon my ignorance, but what the heck kind of chain is that? It doesn't seem to be the mainstream full chisel / semi chisel. Apparently round ground, not square, but it's a different aminal. Wassup w'dat? Is that a racing chain? I'm not a part of that arena, but am intrigued. -TM-

That`s Gypos omni-directional race chain. It`s only used by the real experts because it`s such a bear to get the raker heights right.

Actually it`s auto sharp chain, it could be sharpened while on the running saw by pushing a button that contacts a stone with the moving chain.

Russ nailed it on the chain type. Incidentally it used to be called Barracuda chain. It was an apt name since that stuff has been known to attack with bloody consequences.
