Well since you brought it up, here is my take.

They stand to gain job security if their actions increase sales for Stihl.
Talking up the competition would have the opposite effect. It's marketing 101. Yes, even the guys working on the saws in the back room have better job security if Stihl Inc. does well.

.

:ices_rofl: :ices_rofl:

ooooooohhhh Marketing 101! I almost forgot that!!! Did you also learn that there is no such thing as bad publicity? The thread would have died at about 100 if you hadn't been in and in and in and in. and.... Thanks for the "job security"

Sure glad I got out of the corporate rat race in 2001. Almost as many rats around here, but they are small fry in comparison to the mice I had to swat.

Treeco - Job security is the lowest of my life's priorites... I left that BS behind a long long time ago..

Sleepy time for me... see ya all tomorrow. Don't change that channel!

Do we really believe actors on television when they do commercials? Most of us know they are talking for the money.

I don't think Lake is doing it near as much as Thall. Thall is just like an actor in a commercial. All positive spin........no negatives.

It's blatantly obvious if you follow the discussion. I didn't get in the discussion until almost page 50 of Thall's praise of the 441.

Me a actor, hmmmmmm, well all I got to say about that is this: Thankya, thankya very much. I'd throw you a scarf baby but your not close enough to the stage, hehe.

Tree fact is I've found no negatives to report on the 441. You haven't either. The power/weight ratio you see as a negitive I find abit silly. If you notice Tree each and every person that has actually ran the saw haven't givin it any negitive feedback at all. Are they all actors too? Niether they nor me are getting any money to report on the saw, not one penny.

This thing about job security. Are you wishing bad luck on and hoping someone loses their job?? If so thats a poor way to be. Wishing hard luck on others just becasue you don't agree with them is abit childish wouldn't you say. You must remember I've been selling Stihl way before the 441 ever came out so that one model has no bearing on job security at all, it takes all of them to float the boat, not one. I did quite well before it came out and now I'll do even better, why, because the saw is what I say it is, a good saw.

Thankya, thankya very much: Thall has left the building to go sell a 441 folks, stay in your seats, it doesn't take him long to gettttttttttttttttttttttttter done, lol

am slowly grasping this myself, I take it as the "puff" of air, is on the exauhst side, forcing part of the unburnt fuel back into the cylinder, with a new charge coming in from the intake side as well, focing the engine to re-burn part of the exaust gas that was already burnt.
Clear as mudd?
A couple of things. Strato charged engines work by using a unique port layout that sets up a "slug" fresh of air in between the incoming fule/oil/air mix and the exhaust. This air is then used to blow down the cylinder(scaveng). This intern reduces the all important unburnt HC emmisions, virtually eliminates smell/smoke and saves alot of fuel.
As far as consumption goes, I do not have any hard data. The only thing I can say is that the Redmax blower I have will run a very long time on a tank of fuel, Probaly twice as long as the Stihl BR-420 it replaced and the Redmax has a bigger motor to boot.
Now doubt the next generation of Strato engines from stihl and Husky will be better than the ones we are eeing now. At least the Stihl 441 doesnt have a rev limiter like the 575.
BTW one more thing for you guys to consider. A starto engine has much less oil going through it than a regular two stroke and runs hotter so oil quality is very important. The guys using outboard oil will get themselves into trouble quick with these engines.

Not wishing hard luck on anyone at all. Or loss of their job.

The 441 will not turn out the be the saw people expect. It's specs are poor and as yet its long term dependability is unproven.

The wise will go with a proven saw......the MS460.........and leave the beta testing to the gullible.

I bet long term that more than a few problems will be found with the 441.

Awww ok. Well Tree your correct, the 441 hasn't turned out to be the saw I expected, its more. I didn't think it would be as smooth as it is nor cut as well as it does.

The 460 is indeed a proven saw. I got the 046, the earlier version, the faster of the two. When it came out many said the samething your saying about the 441 now, oh it runs too fast, it won't last and on and on. Now look at it, a proven saw.

So Sthil has been taking one step forward and two steps backwards for some time now.

I was thinking it was a new trend. Thanks for the info Thall.

If saying the 460 is a tad slower than the earlier 046 is a step backwards and you also say the 460 is a THE proven saw then thankya Tree, you prove my point, lol.

Running cleaner & polluting less is not a step backwards. It is progress, significant progress.
Running smoother and less fatiguing to the operator is not a step backwards. More progress...

Weight to power ratio is not the only measure of a saw's performance.

Are you ignoring simple things like that or are you just stupid?
