From a reliable trusted source. "Hey Shane(me), I know how you guys in the states love the 200t, well they pulled out the mold press for it today".
I would assume that if they pulled the mold press, that production of the 200T is done.
If I was a fan of the 200t and needed one anytime soon I would be getting one asap.
I'm a husky fan, so I'll wait for the new husky to come out and try that when time for a new top handle comes.

Sky is falling chicken little! All o a sudden the worlds supply of 200T's is dry, and they are trading for 100% above retail. LOL.... Cut the crap....

Being a husky fan ill admit that the 200t is a better saw than the 338xpt...so I'm hoping the new husqvarna T540xp is better or at least equal to the new 201t.....
You would think the new husky coming out would be better than the old 200t, because you know husvarna knows the 200t is king and husky wants a better product.

I have a 338xpt too, and to put it lightly, the 200T is an entirely different class of saw over the 338xpt. IN FACT, I say the 338xpt isn't even worthy of being compared to a 200T in the first place.

Name a dealership that has sold Stihl in the '60's.....very simple. QUOTE]

Stihl actually first started shipping saws to North America as early as the 1930's.
In 1947, Stihl bought out its former U.S. importer, and began assembling saws in the United States for the North American market. Don't know if there was any dealers back then. I did a search and found this:

Andreas Stihl AG & Co. KG -- Company History

I did not know this..... learned something new.

Have to agree about this not being "old news". To me anyways.

Treevet,

Nice collection of saws in the pickup on your site. I have CAD myself.:msp_biggrin:

I'll have to check out the new 201's when they come out. If not up to the 200's I'll have to pick up a couple of the older ones if still available.

Thanks, I have picked a few more up since then as that is my last Silverado. I got 15 now incl 660 880 090 for a two man crew. Have to give myself up to a higher power, etc lol

That is my plan too. I am thinkin the only improvements the ms200 could take may be ergonomics.

Man, we on a two full day rainout.

I clearly remember a bunch of new dealers and old ones that took on the stihl line prior to that Va. plant opened. Must have heard the buzz and knew they could be supplied.

It looks all feminine like a 192!!! lol
i heard that the emmisions stuff is really taking over and these saws at best may perform at the 200t level. Supposed to be a lot harder to tune too accordind to my dealer. He's upset about the new 362 compared to the 361 and is hoping sthil doesn't mess up the best saw ever made. Glad i got five 200's!

There's a man on a mission! Five minutes after sayin you were gettin one!! lol

hunt, club, drag off lol.

just picked up new ms200. My friend there tell me the 201 is a stratified saw/engine. Means more weight, less power, more cost (selling price).

I don't know sheeaht about engines but know a whole shcit load bout running em, and I know what I like.

If anyone is interested, that boy that was on here earlier has a used ms200 for sale. Says he only uses his handsaw so he doesn't need it. :monkey:

He tried to trade me for some of the cost of the BMG Grapple I sold him that had about 5 hours on it. Sold it to him for half price. Coulda sold it a hundred times since then.

Sorry guys, but this is old news, really! It was announced in June of 2009 that all saws would have to meet a new EPA compliance due to set in January 2012. The 660, 880, 3120, 372, you name it, are all on the chopping block, no more!
The new saws will be heavier, have better anti-vibration (according to most) may or may not have a little more power, and will be EPA compliant.

here's a dealership letter dated 63-64 era to a Mo Stihl dealer
my mint Stihl 08S came from Redbird supply which was the oldest Stihl dealer in Tulsa at the time.

You are the one that is wrong. Name a Stihl dealer prior to 1970s.

Just cause there are some older than that Stihls around don't mean they were sold here. Stihl's been around a long time, here.....not so long.

Also the ms21 is hardly old news. I'd guess 99 percent of pro buying consumers have no idea about this.

Also it is not more power or (adding?) weight that is at the crux of this change, it is emissions from what I have heard.

Discussing conjecture is what forums are all about. If you think you got all the answers link em up here. My impression is Stihl is going hush on this prior to intro.

It appears I was wrong. Not the first time and won't be the last.

Sorry fellas ( but not you junior, you got to learn some respect for your elders)

You know what (Andy right), I had heard buzz about the replacement for the ms200 late last summer from my shop. I could care less about the larger saws but this saw had a total corner on the market. I adore this saw.

I take rumours such as this with a grain of salt. Years ago it was said that Stihl was going to stop producing climbing saws entirely.

Later They did just the opposite and from the 020 they polled tree companies all over, one of which was Cinci Co Madison Tree Co. and put in design features that became the 020 T. Wow what an upgrade.

I gave it no further thought until last week, not been in the saw shop for a little while,, the guys told me they had SEEN this saw in a pict. Then I knew it was a reality until people on this thread contradicted this and I emailed the Stihl site rep and in 2 different email replies....

He totally denied the existence of the ms201 replacement 3 days ago. Why?

respect my elders?

I think you are the one that needs to show some respect... you act like you are five...

Kiss my ascs high school boy....

Go get your mommy to make you a samwich or something. It is time for bed for you.

figgered you put on your flannel jammies with the booties and went night night

come by my lot sometime son, you know where it is, we have a little talk.

By the way, this forum is for "experienced climbers". You are nothing resembling that.

Yes, it's Andy, I was just re-iterating that it's coming across the board, from the smallest to the largest saw, they will all have to meet the EPA standard come 2012, no choice, no option! It has nothing to do with how great or poor of a saw it is. Rest assured, I am not happy about loosing the 200 either!

This site, and the people in the chainsaw forum for sure, are on the pulse of the market, we know things well before the "suits" seem to be informed. I knew about, and asked my dealer about, the 441 six months before it was on the market. He flat told me I was insane, there was no such saw coming, no development on such a saw and it would never be a reality! He asks me a LOT of questions when I come in for parts now!
I don't know if they are just in denial of the EPA act, or really aren't aware of it, but the other Andy, Lakeside (a bona fide Gold Stihl tech), had been preaching about this for years.
