Did J.C. Penny carry saws in their catalog? I seem to remember from years ago, they had a line of tools etc. that went by the name of Penncraft. If they did. Did Poulan build saws for them too? Big as Penny's was, at one time, you would think there would be some settin around collecting dust.

Gregg,

Gregg, per acresinternet they did sell some saws and yes they are based on either Poulan or Wright. It was about the time that Poulan bought Wright so I think they are Poulan's anyway. Look at the bottom of the page I've attached.

Thanks Randy, According to Acre's site, They sold a models based on the 306SA & 25, also.
So there probably are some hiding out there somewhere. They can't be as rare as Mark's Speigel, I wouldn't think.

Gregg,

There's also a sheet floating around, Gregg, that shows the various Poulan branded products. The 25DA and S25CVA are listed as branded under Penncraft for J.C. Penney.

Regarding rebadged Poulan saws........

Somewhere on AS, probably in this thread, there is a link to a document showing under which brands rebadged Poulan chainsaws were sold. It's possible that someone emailed it to me???? I downloaded it on 07-21-12. EDIT--sorry, that's the date it was last modified, & I recall copying some info from the document, I'm not sure when I actually downloaded it.

Yes, I do remember that list you guys speak of. Probably burried deep some where on my PC:help:

Seems to me that list was quite extensive too. Must be a boat load of rebadged Poulans out there that folks have rarely seen.

Gregg,

Gregg,

You would be surprised to see how many went to Europe under different names.

Well, I found that list. I will try and post it here.

Thrice I have attempted to upload the above-mentioned document to Photobucket (AS will no longer host my images), but it stalls at 37%, the drops down to 31%, jumps between the two percentages, then eventually gives me an error message. :bang:

Learning Chainsaw repair. PP295

For some time I have been looking for a saw to learn repair on.
Sunday after Church a man that I go to church with gave me a PP295.
This thing is a hunk of junk. Ask and ye shall receive I guess.

Somewhere back in time the muffler fell off. He just kept on running it.
The piston is scored and most likely the cylinder as well. Have not had the compression checked yet but it feels very weak just pulling the starter.

The chain break melted off. The front of the top cover is all buggered up from over heating and from some homemade repairs.

I found a parts list on the web and printed it off. The part # on the list is 530088792.

Will soon be needing some parts.... and advice....

Question # 1
Can I or Should I buy new parts??? Or can I get them from you guys??? I have never traded on this site before.
Question # 2
Can I hop this little saw up so that it will cut better than a stock PP295??? If so, what would you guys recommend doing??

Will see if I can get some pix of it posted this evening when I get home.

It is supposed to run.:D

Thanks
David

He's too shy to post it, but what saw is this in Mark's hands? Don't think Poulan ever rebadged one of these.

Frankly, the older 900 series Homelites don't really vibrate all that bad. The C-series framed saws really seemed to step it up.

This Homelite and a few others will be making the trip to Ohio. Have to do something to drown out all the green.
