Bad Boy?

I ran across a 3.3 Poulan "Bad Boy" Tim Allen signature saw at a pawn shop today. Starts, runs, and oils well, all original hardware. Is this saw worth $100?

I'm familiar with some of the older Poulan saws but don't know if this is a copy of one of those or not. Other than the purple color it's a good looking saw.

TIA, dd.

Never seen a 3.3 Bad Boy. I have had 3 and they all were 3750 60cc saws.

IMO yes they are worth a $100 for a 60cc saw that will run and cut with any in it's class IMO.

Thanks for the advice. I figured this was the right forum to post in, some of the other places around here are a little tough on Poulans. I have actually owned several of the homeowner saws and found them to be a good product.

If any 5200 etc come through me I will give you a shout. I'm not into these even though they run stout. Just different strokes for different folks.
Heck I passed on a trade on 2 8500 and now I cant locate the guy for others to check to see if still available. No biggie to me but it might be to others.
Keep the eccentric fellow out west in mind for shout outs if you find any more 85cc Poulans. He doesn't have one of those saws yet.:D

Man, my back is killing me today.:D

Must be from running a saw that weighs less than a sandcast Poulan of similar vintage, and has twice the power.:jester:

Mark would you be interested in a good used black AF cover from a yellow/black PP S25DA for that NOS saw of yours? I just got three of those saws (very dirty...) plus some parts in a trade, and it looks like at least one of 'em will be a parts donor. I need to clean them up and inspect the covers to see if any are pretty enough for your saw. You're welcome to the best cover of the three. I already have your shipping address.

Here's a quick 'n dirty pic of my latest Poulan score. I'm up to 8 XXV saws now between runners, rebuilders, and parts saws. More than any other tophandle saws in my stable.:D

Looks like you got a 3400.

Bummer. Turns out the compression is for **** anyway. Reason the drop test seemed to work is the rope was stuck in the recoil. Good spark, but won't fire even with some gas poured in the cylinder and spun fast with a drill/socket on the crank bolt.

Ah well. It was just 10 bucks.

What time is the Poulan GTG starting/ stopping? Looks like I may be working on Saturday, but will still try to make it. I was going to end up at Greggs around 10, now its looking like it will be 2 at best. Have someone at work taking a personal day, but its a buddy and I am going to try and talk him out of it. If so, boss will relieve me and let me head out with out burning my last personal day. With a little one on the way very soon, I need to hold on to it!

That still beats me. I'm looking at 3ish right now.

Like Gregg said better later then never. :msp_wink:

Oh bring 550 please. Is it running 325 still or 3/8? Also remind me to bring my clutch tool to see if it will fit.

I bought a clutch tool a week or two ago on my last Baileys order. Im not going to switch anything on it just yet, it is cutting fantastic as is with .325, and was a lot stronger saw out of the box than I anticipated. For some reason I couldnt make the GTG, theres no reason you cant get your hide 20 minutes east out my way to see what you think of it :). Hope to see you there. Jeff

Well I guess it was in the scrap yard for a reason?:msp_rolleyes:

Like you said, only $10 and you got way more then $10 worth of parts there.

Well we all know that work pays the bills so it has to come first. We will be there late so it would be good to see ya when ever.

No spanner wrench needed.

My latest 'clutch tool' consists of two 3/16" (or whatever size fits) drill bits chucked up in my bench vise. Instead of trying the turn the clutch and hold the saw, I turn the saw and hold the clutch. You need a couple of 3/8" wood dowels in the exh. port. Smack the clutch with a hammer to relieve pressure on the threads.

Beats chasing the saw across the work bench with a punch and hammer.

You know those covers will come off pretty easily, if ya remove a couple screws. Don't need to be beatin the heck out of em with the sledge hammer! :D:msp_lol:

Gregg,

Oh great. Thanks Gregg. NOW you tell me...

Left coasters!! :hmm3grin2orange:

Well do you want one of them AF covers or not?.............you landlocked so-and-so...:D

Hit a couple of pawn shops today, one I visit fairly frequently near work. Had a couple of decent looking 2300's on the shelf as well as a worn out PP190. Also what appeared to be a 041, when I flipped it over part of the case was missing...:msp_ohmy:

After delivering my daughter to swim practice I decided to try another pawn shop I had never been to previously. Lots of stuff and 4 shelves of saws. Many new Poulans, Homelites and Craftsmans, but also 2 Mc 10-10's, a Homie XL and Super XL and a Craftsman 3.7. Wouldn't pop, found the filter laying in the tank. Had the clerk give me a Gatorade bottle out of the trash and it ran off some fuel down the throat. Used their tolls and a tool box as a workbench to pull the muffler. Also left my name and number and my wish list of saws, we will see if it pays off.

I will bring it and its twin on Saturday. Sorry for the crappy picture, but it's all the proof you get.

Land locked? Why you left coast dummy! :hmm3grin2orange:

Get your map out and look to see what is directly north of NW Indiana? How do you think them ships get from the Atlactic to the Steel mills and such? I'll give you a hint, they dont load those ships on trains.

Will one of those covers clean up like new? If not I reckon not....

You seen that beauty that I need it for although the one I painted dont look too bad for now.

Inland seas don't count. I've seen lake Michigan firsthand....:msp_tongue:

The saws have a thick layer of oily mung on them. Underneath, the paint's like new in spots. We'll see what the covers look like when cleaned up. One of them shows promise...
