Man, my back is killing me today.
Might want to do like I do, stick with the Micros!

Gregg,
For some time I have been looking for a saw to learn repair on.
Sunday after Church a man that I go to church with gave me a PP295.
This thing is a hunk of junk. Ask and ye shall receive I guess.
Somewhere back in time the muffler fell off. He just kept on running it.
The piston is scored and most likely the cylinder as well. Have not had the compression checked yet but it feels very weak just pulling the starter.
The chain break melted off. The front of the top cover is all buggered up from over heating and from some homemade repairs.
I found a parts list on the web and printed it off. The part # on the list is 530088792.
Will soon be needing some parts.... and advice....
Question # 1
Can I or Should I buy new parts??? Or can I get them from you guys??? I have never traded on this site before.
Question # 2
Can I hop this little saw up so that it will cut better than a stock PP295??? If so, what would you guys recommend doing??
Will see if I can get some pix of it posted this evening when I get home.
It is supposed to run.
Thanks
David
I ran across a 3.3 Poulan "Bad Boy" Tim Allen signature saw at a pawn shop today. Starts, runs, and oils well, all original hardware. Is this saw worth $100?
I'm familiar with some of the older Poulan saws but don't know if this is a copy of one of those or not. Other than the purple color it's a good looking saw.
TIA, dd.
Gregg, thanks, that doc has a lot of useful info! And that's the one I have (courtesy of someone here on AS) that I couldn't get to upload to Phtobucket :bang:. That list indicates that some Poulan models were rebadged under different names in Canada; maybe some AS members in Canada could :Eye:^:Eye: for the rare ones?
I've seen a few 3400's come up badged as Canadian Tire Corp saws and a 25 series as a Weed Eater brand.
DD, yes, the Bad Boy is worth $100.00. Even better if they're willing to haggle .
These PP295's come in Type 1, 2, 3 and 4. Mine is a type 3. Type 3's have that funkey, one piece, muffen muffler that everone seems to dislike. Does anyone know if a type two, two piece muffler will fit on a type 3 ???
I am going to start my on post under Chainsaw. This dont seem to be the right place for this.
Thanks
David

David, there's a complete used 295 engine listed on eBay, it appears to be in pretty good shape. It's always possible that you could find locally a complete 295, 2900, 4620, etc. (a Craftsman equivalent might even be cheaper) that just needs some basic refreshing.

Mike (user name moparsomething ) has had good luck getting more umph out of the 46cc Poulans.

Hmm, started laying out a few saws to bring this weekend.........
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.
Mark, I guess that depends on the GVWR of that U-Haul. With Chris's heavy iron, you maybe could get a S25 or Micro or two in there, if ya carry one on your lap.:hmm3grin2orange:
How is the 71A co-operating? Don't seem it would be a Poulan GTG, without that one making a showing.:msp_thumbup:
Gregg,
Any one have a pic of the Super 33 muffler? I'll do some more digging.
Here it is.....
Well.....hmmm, it appears that I have a complete "muffler" :msp_thumbup:
Here it is.....
I must have the "Deluxe" model on my old 47. Its all open also, just kinda points it down a little.
Gregg,
Somebody make sure one of these types are running and cutting at the gtg. I would like to hear these idling and in the cut with these non mufflers.
