Gregg,

wasn't so long ago that over 50 qualified for the senior discount. that is until i turned 50, then it inched up a year or two at a time. i think they finally quit moving it up. howsomever, i also resemble a geezer. mighty proud to fly my rapidly thinning freak flag. for those in doubt, i also am a geezer.
geezer's unite
power to the geezer

This was taken about 3 years ago. Coming out of yellowstone after 5 days of fishing. Rode about 10 miles in the rain. Needless to say my knees hurt like hell when I got down. I was with the B.I.L. and those are his horses and mules. It was just the two of us and I slept with my 45-70 and took it everywhere just in case. I was 59 at the time.

I got a poulan pp5020 anybody know of any muffler mods besides drilling a 3/4 hole in the front of the muffler?

i like this parts of forum better talking about these fancy poulans i better stay here because i believe nobody liked my opinion on stumpys customs aussie 576XP about saws with processors :jester:

o.k. this is just picture posting practice. I forgot I owned this saw. Bought it from a lady about 100 miles away. Based on the amount of paint missing it seems to have had very little use. Without bumper spikes it is rare to not have the front of the oil tank buggered up.

If anyone is in the Spokane Wa area there is one of these at the Double Eagle Pawn on Sprague Ave. I forget the price but I think it was around $100, I just bought a gun so I am out.

Poulans are great saws. It is a shame they quit making the good ones. We love our old ones and even the relatively new 330's can hold thier own with anything out there. My 330 is my go to saw for serious work. I want to save the 4200 and 8500 for special events.:msp_sleep:

forgetting the 7700 steve :jester:

I'm working on it all the people in my area are die hard husky/stihl people it is hard to find a poulan made before 2000 here.

While I am not a Poulan afficianado, I do have a PP405 that currently has only 75 lbs compression. It is in the same range (cc-wise) as the 8500, but is from a later era.

The PP405 is a 65cc saw whereas the 8500 is 85ccs. Not in the same size class at all. You would have to go to a PP525 to get near 85cc's. Does your PP405 run? Would surprise me if it did with only 75lbs of compression.
Bob
