needle nose pliers and slide off and you then can use a screwdriver on the needles like normal. No need to put back on the plastic stops.

Thanks. It looked like that was all they needed but I thought I'd ask. Saw came from a dealer which is why they were in place I'm sure.

Looks correct to me, far as I can tell. This is a pic of one for a PP380. 60cc Gilardoni (sp)

Gregg,

So I guess I got me a pp380:msp_thumbup:

easy to do pull the muffler push a soft plastic or paper straw into the bore to touch the other side, crimp it on the inside edge of the exhaust port, pull it out and measure.

Just measured it, good thing I took the muffler off too because the bolt that holds the back half of the muffler on was about to fall out! It's right around 49mm's is that 330 or 380?

Gregg,

The transfers on that cylinder look just like the ones on my Tim Allen 3750. I have never seen that design of transfer on a 54 cc saw from Poulan. Do you know what other models have that curved transfer design in a 54 cc saw. I have not seen all the 54cc cylinders that Poulan makes but the ones I have are all straight vertical with no curve in them.

Beats me:confused: A PP380 is the only "newer" Poulan I have. Just not familiar with the other models. Most of my saws are the older 3400 though 5200 types. Jeremiah Johnson (kevin) would be good one to answer that.:)

Gregg,

Ok I was just curious.
I have had the 3450, 335, and 3300 apart and they are different. I have a 330 but have not taken the cylinder off of it but can pull the muff and look at the transfers. Thanks. Roger.

285 bar questions

I picked up a fairly nice 285 this week. Needs a chain brake band and fuel, vent and impulse lines. Compression is at 165 lbs. It does run but may need a carb kit.

I have a few questions about the 16 in .325 bar.

PN 530044390 1658 8895 HN

It would make sense to me that the bar is .058. ???? The bar is pretty clean and doesn't show much wear at all. The chain is an Oregon. The only thing I can find on the chain is a 34 stamped on the drive links. There are 66 DL The chain really doesn't matter as it is worn out and the rakers have been almost filed off.

Is this a Poulan bar by Windsor?

Not necessarily. Both sizes, the 54cc & 60cc use the same type cyl. and look alike.Measurement would be the only true way to know.

Gregg,

All of the 54cc 3450,330 cyl's I have seen don't have the fins on top of the cyl like on the 3750,380 60cc cyl's. I believe they use it for extra cooling on the bigger bore cyls.

From what I have seen (others view may vary) is the 365 has straight ports like the 330 and the rear curved ports like in the picture are only found in the 3750/380.

The ports in the 3750 are unique and look like they would flow good with the proper direction, and would work better than the straight up port design. This might give the 3750 and 380 alittle more torque.

Without seeing it I wont say for sure but I dont think its a Windsor and is probably a Oregon. Like you said it is .058 and the 34 series chain is not what your wanting anyway.

I believe the other 60cc cyls have the top fins as well, 365, 3600.

So is it safe to say that a cylinder with fins on top is a 60cc cylinder? As in 365, 3600, 3750, 380. Because that was always my understanding of it as far as taking a quick look from the outside went.

Al,

Are you over 55? If so, apparently that makes you a geezer or so I've been told. I wonder how many geezers are on this thread and if we should be identified. Maybe geezers can get more points for giving reps and stuff and if one of us, you know, leaves unexpectedly and permanently the surviving geezers can split up his points. There has to be some benefit. Maybe the sponsors will give a Tuesday 10% geezer discount for on line orders. The possibilities should be endless.

Tim, sorry to be late replying but being on the otherside of the world makes it difficult to enter the conversation in a timely way. Some folks think I am rude but I guess I am just slow. And getting slower beause I do fit that 'geezer' profile quite accurately. The only time it ever concerns me is when I am out with my beautiful wife (who is not a geezeress yet) and meet people who clearly wonder what the hell she is doing with an old git like me!
I am happy to give up any points I have but as I mentioned above - my saws are coming with me.:msp_biggrin:

Al.
