Is this the one you got from ptjeep? Not too long after he sent the 8500 your way, he got a smoked 5400 that I wish I would have gotten now, but it went to a good home at Guidosalvage.

Just catching up on this thread, it was actually a 5200 and the cylinder is bad as are the plug threads. I am working on the $25.00 5200 I got from out west and the Dayton 245 before I think about that one.

Craftsman 3.6/306A foam dust seal.

I was looking for a source for the foam dust seal 530019006 between the engine and tank/handle.

Google was no help.

I've home made 'em but not a nice fit.:rolleyes2:

The oil tank leak was a broken out section behind the bar adjuster...................................Yikes!
Good thing I have a parts carcass.

Cheese and Rice Aaron, Popcorn already, it was only midnight my time. :ices_rofl:

And besides, Mark will be sporting his new CHAPS!!! :D Pics & video to come, I hope. :ices_rofl:

Gregg,

Gregg I said I was getting those chaps for Christmas. Today was only the 22nd.

Actually though I did put em in the truck but so used to not having any , I forgot to put em on.

You're welcome Steve. Scanning on a flat bed is kind of like going to the dentist but less fun.

Been there and done that, its not a lot of fun but thanks for sharing.

:msp_thumbsup:

Well it was busy day but got alot done. Loaded the heck out of the trailer with wood.

Dropped all the trees right where I wanted so that was good, dead trees scare me but these were all soild, no inner rot at all to speak of.

Didnt take a camera but did just take a couple pictures with my phone. It was work day, not photo day and all my help had things to do this afternoon so it was get -er -done time. The 330vrs365 comparison didnt happen, the 365 didnt even get run, in fact the 3000 wouldnt have either except my son grabbed it instead of the 330 to finish up some small stuff at the very end.

Chris jumped right in with his Jred 490 and he was loving the heated handles on it, he also ran his big Poulan 4200+ and we got to make a couple cuts with is new to him Remington SL7A.

Got most of the wood hauled home but there is some still piled up I need to get sometime.

Now I have chastised people before about loading like this but this was only 1/4 or so from the house on a county rd.

Did you all get the auto oiler working on that bad boy?

Carl, I think it's working, but not very good.

Chris B.

Awesome job Mark!!!!

Tell me, whats the dangers of those dead tree's...seems as if they would be a cinch to drop...seeing how much of their resistance has perished...but I'm yet kinda green to this?;)

Well now I don't feel so bad about missin out. If anyone can find the parts for it, it will be you. I thought you told me it was a 5400 for some reason. Good luck man!

Looks like you guys had a fine day of cutting. I myself had the matter of alittle welding job that I started on. :msp_biggrin:

Reggie, live trees are usually predictable... Dead tree are sometimes a crap shoot.... Hollow trees are ... Well... Even less predictable.

When you have a live tree, the hinge holds nicely and doesn't break off as easily, allowing you to "aim" it at your chosen fall area. When its dead the hinge becomes brittle and can snap or break off unpredictably. The rot factor makes it even hairier. That said, 99% of the trees we cut down are dead. You get used to it, but the first one that gets away from you keeps it real for a long time after.

GOOD STUFF!!! YIPES!!!:msp_scared:

They are a cinch to drop..................................a big dead limb right on top of your head when the bottom starts to fall but the top isn't ready to go yet!!!
Since you are crouched at the base of the trunk (and an old geezer like us) you can't get up and out of the way before something falling gets to you. And you can't hear anything going wrong because there is a chainsaw running 2 feet in front of your face.

As Wagnerworks said the hinge (or what would have been a hinge with a live tree) breaks as soon as the tree starts to fall and allows them to do all kinds of crazy things.

Sounds good on the welding job! Dont worry about grinding the back side, leave it for strengh.

Mark, how do you like your 268xp ? Toying with the idea.
Bob

The 268 is a good one.

Like I said it is basically the first oppertuninty to actually use it, but I like it.

Bob, I'm guessing Mark won't be up till, oh maybe 10:00. He is probably feeling the effects of "old geezer syndrome" coming on, after his outing yesterday.

Gregg,

Up at 6:45.

I dont know how much I'm feeling the effects of "old geezer syndrome" coming on as much as the effects of getting up at 3:45 AM the rest of the time!

That little tractor and loader is the best thing that I have bought in a long, long time. It will help this old almost geezer keep going longer. Takes alot of work out of firewood.
