Hey guys, i have an opportunity to purchase a Poulan Farm Pro 375 for a hundred bucks. I like all saws, an have a CAD collection in the making.
Id like to add this saw as the first poulan to my saw hoard, but im not savvy to Poulan values.. Assuming the saw fires and runs out well, and the P/C, and compression is solid, it sounds like a great deal to me? Any reason ya'll can think of as to why i shouldnt jump on it? Things particular to the model to be aware of? Thx for your time ;)

You'll do fine. And more than likely use your 605 a lot less.

At least if you had to use them every day you would. If you were sane, like most of us.

Seems there have been quite a few fellas around here that have acquired one of those saws lately.
Nothing special to worry about on those, they are the same saw line as the 3400, 3700, 3800, 4000. They were built at the end of that production, using the yellow & black Poulan Pro colors, instead of the green & black. The 375 is 61cc. same as the Poulan 3700. But, has features of the 4000,such as air filter setup, side outlet on muffler, and as I recall, a heavier duty recoil to flywheel mate up. Just ck fuel lines, tank vent, etc. just like any other older saw that maybe hasn't been run for awhile. Nice saws. The PP395 is 64cc.version. same as the 4000.

Glad you posted that pic of the felling dog!

I think I have finished up my 25CVA build. I haven't fired it up yet, waiting for this weekend so I can do it in the daylight.

Here is what I am thinking for my dog....whatcha think??? This is just roughed at this point. Too big? I need to contour it to fit tight to the oil tank.

BTW, got some pics of rebuilding this saw. Will post in the near future. I did a little port work to the exhaust, muffler and transfers. Nothing too crazy but I definitely removed some metal.

One question for you all: the 25 series is supposed to have a gasket around the cover over the carb. I didn't have one so I laid a thin bead of silicone around the edge of the cover and allowed it to cure. In theory it should hold up OK and be reusable.

Anyone put a HD air filter directly on the carb? Only issue I see is dealing with the choke.

No, not that old. Mid 60's. At least it doesn't seem that old to me. I kind of grew up with points. I like them in mags, not so much in cars. In mags they seem to last forever. Easy to work on, dependable, and you can use them to adjust timing a little bit.
The new electronics is where I get lost.

It's a ****** getting old unless you collect old stuff, then it's like the good old days.

Those points are still made and sold today. Likely thanks to the old Homelites.

Good question. Suppose if it stays pliable and remains on the carb box it should work. I've simply made a gasket from gasket material. I did have a torn one so I had a pattern. Suppose you could use the carb cover and do the same thing.
