Nice saw , a little rough but beats a blank..

dave

My 252 has been hanging in the rafters of a shed for over 25 years acording to the guy I got it from. I want to clean it up and restor it to top running condition, even though it's probably going to spend the rest of my life up on a shelf. I am bit hesitant to repaint it or remove the original stickers even though it looks like it needs it.

don't remove the original stickers

don't remove the original stickers or repaint it as it will not be worth as much unless you have the original stickers re made and paint same the same or as close as you can go .

Just picked up 2 3400CV (one parts) ,and a like new Farm Pro 375 with smashed ,missing Handle. To start on Bailey's the hand guard # says 530024466 is there a Poulan # I can search for ?Also after a quick look it seems the 3400 handle with some paint might work for the 375 will it?Plenty of time till I dig in,Thanks David

Almost everything on those saws will interchange. The top cover and piston and cylinder are dif, but will switch from saw to saw. Handles are the same minus the paint color. Good job snagging some great old mag!

I am working on a 475 and have been trying to find the clutch side seal. I was told that it is NLA and have tried several places with no success. I also tried to find a replacement seal with no success. Have any of you, who have worked on these particular saws, ever find a replacement seal? The Poulan part number 503422201. I believe the 505 uses a different seal on the clutch side. I could sure use the help. If I cannot find the seal I guess I will start improvising.
The dimensions
Shaft .588
OD. 1.370
Width .250

If a seal can be found with the correct shaft and OD. the width could be modified easily.

Roger, I have done 2 of those and for the life of me right now I cant remember where I got them but I think I might have got them from Poulan.

Do you have a metric caliper? If so measure them again and see if you come up with 15mm x 35mm x 6mm.

I just found some metric seals the other day and dont know what I got them for, let me check and see what size they are.

Yes that is correct. 15mm x 35mm x 6mm will absolutely work.

I found my second 5200 chainsaw this month, this one is a 5.2 craftsman. This is the only one i have seen, are there any else out there?

Rebadged 4200 - 5200

I ran across a 4200 series saw in my travels today. It was light blue in color. Sorry, didn't get any pics, will try to get some next week when I go back. Anybody got any ideas on who it was made for? The Guy doesn't want to get rid of it (Da#* it). Was his grandpa's. No tag, no decals, no nuthin'.

I looked at the ones I had and there 15X30mm so thats no good for you. Still trying to remember what they fit and what I bought them for. :hmm3grin2orange:

Oh well I'll remember when I need them and after I have bought more because I will forget that I had them.
