You done pretty damn good there yourself! You will like that one.

So you going to give a hint to when Washington DC gets blown up?

Seriously, I'm glad you got a 5200 now, your going to get to feel some real power now! You need a bigger bar for it and you will now find yourself looking for bigger trees and a reason to use it.

Looks like a pretty good one!

Haha, we just pissed and moaned I guess! I gotta get out to the next GTG with some of these saws!

And here it is. Picked it up today and the owner even fired it up for me in 14* tempurature. Its had some use but its in pretty good shape. has very good compression. Its got a few ahead of it right now but it will fit in nicely. The old school 20" Oregon bar is in good shape and the air filter looks almost new.
As an aside I talked to my good buddy Mike (mopar) tonight where we discussed saws and the problems of the world. We just about got it worked out.

Way to go Joe:clap: Like was mentioned earlier, I kinda figured it would be a 85cc muscle saw.:)
At least you are way ahead in the game with your 5200. It runs! Unlike the mess I encountered with mine. Hopefully someday we can gather a bunch of us Poulan guys together and everyone run there 5200's together, all at once! Bet that would be a great sound, not soon forgotten.:D

I kinda like those older Oregon bars also. But I think we are going to ban 5200's with 20" bars at GTG's.:msp_ohmy: (joking) They need large bars to really appreciate the power of these saws.
What are your plans for it? Just go over the normal stuff & use it? Or completely give it a make over? Like Mark turns them out. LOL Either way, your REALLY gonna like that saw.

Gregg,

Thanks Gregg. As far as my plans for it? I think I will tear it down for a good cleaning. Its funny the guy I bought it from put a new fuel line on it and cleaned the carb and it runs. Pretty good too. A carb "cleaning" alone never works for me, I rebuild them all so Ill rebuild this one too. I hear crank seals are in order for most of these saws too. I also have a new set of rings here too. There is some light scratches on the ex. side that could be polished off easily too. But I have my PP395 on the bench right now, then 2 real clean 2000s, a 4000, 3800 and a bunch of off brands ahead of it!

Gregg,

That seems to be the longest bar they put on saws in Canada.
I got 4200 20"
5200 20"
Two red saws 77cc 15" and 18"
I keep looking for a larger bar locally and they are rare . Even the big creamsicles and orange saws have 20" bars.

I know, I try to get them done in the order they come in but doesnt always work that way! When I first got into this craziness Id usually get one saw done then find another to do. Now I have my "work saw runners", "occaisional use runners", "Shelf runners", "NOS never been fueled saws", "parts saws" and finally the stable to be worked on! That last group is getting bigger which is fine by me, wish I had more time. The 395 i got as a runner but it needs carb work and fuel lines to run like it should. I made a list of parts to order just gotta order them now!:dizzy:

Does this mean I can come to the Poulan lover's GTG?

The 4200's which all have usable top ends I believe. May not be new, but I believe will run.

It just amazes me to see partially stripped NOS saws like that....

.......but this is at least the third incidence of partially stripped Poulan saws that we've seen in the last year....

Man what a fantastic score. The thick ring saw probably is really a 3400. Could be a 3800 though. Both have thick rings, plated pistons, and bare bores. Measure the bore through the ex port.

The thin ring saws will have chromed bores and bare pistons, period. Measuring the bores will tell if they're 3700's or 4000's. Neither saw has the 'correct' 4000 type muffler. They also don't have the top covers (which have the model #'s on them......and the 4000 has a 'special' cover type only used on the 4000, PP375/385/395). The saw with the complete clutch DOES have the 4000 type flywheel (pawl style is specific to the 4000 and the PP375/385/395). These parts can all be mixed and matched throughout the series though (as could the clutch covers with the model #'s on them). Gotta measure the bores....
