This was on my feePay Watch List. I sometimes wonder if the bids are real, or shill bids.

Craftsman 3 7 Poulan 3700 Chainsaw Excellent Condition | eBay

That was a nice one Chris. Thats is more bids than you usually see on one of them. I don't personally know the seller, but I think he might be or has been a member here. Never heard anything bad about him. That saw still had the original Power Sharp (barracuda)? chain with it also.
No, I didn't buy it...LOL

Gregg,

Blackoak is one of our members I think. I guess we could ask him if it's real...I'm pretty sure the last bid was because someone has to pay after the bidding is over. Ebay always extracts their fees, also. There are a lot of non paying bidders on ebay but I haven't seen very many on chainsaws.

LOL, Yes, MOST of them Hoosiers I have run into have been pretty upstanding fellas.:D

Gregg,

I have one just like that but mine has lower compression (about 120). Mine has the thick rings and doesn't have the power sharp though. I'll probably wait till next year to list mine but don't hold me to that, it might be a keeper...

Won't get rich trying to drive up your own auctions. Somebody pays for it, you still get to pay the percentage, so its hard to refund that to your shill; and if its a non-payer, you don't get paid. Somebody wanted it worse than somebody else.

Remember, someone else was willing to pay $2.50 less.

What's worse is when someone returns it because he decided he didn't need it. You still pay the fees and sometimes shipping back to you if ebay says so. If you don't pay they just jerk it out of your account.

Bob, Them all sound like pretty good wood too! ;) I have cut tons of Ash for firewood, a little Beech, Maple, and Cherry also. But I understand what ya mean, we logged here back in winter of 2003/04. Sold 74 trees, all of them Oak. :) White Oak & Swamp White Oak, and one large Pin Oak.

Gregg,

Bob, I wanted to amend my above statement. Memory is the first thing to go.:msp_mad: I looked up the paper work when we logged our woodlots. There were 76 trees total, couple of culls. There was some Red Oak in the mix, along with a several Burr Oaks, and Chinkipin Oaks.
Estimated 48,480 bd.ft., (Int. 1/4") 42,160 bd.ft. (Doyle). Real loggers will laugh, but I don't have a clue, one from the other.

We had a Forrester mark & grade the trees. Then took bids from 3-4 different logging outfits.
Wood lot size is 26 acres. High bid was $18,500. That was 9-10 years ago, so probably should have him ck it out again sometime soon.

Gregg,

I do believe that y'all are correct about Blackoak being a member here, & previously I have put some of his items on watch. The bidding war on that saw seemed crazy to me, but as someone mentioned apparantly at least two people really wanted that saw. I'm glad that Blackoak got a great price, hopefully the deal goes through with no problems.

Just had to have for the barn/shop.

I know the yellow one, but green one is? The one piece top cover on the green one throws me off being I never had one. Maybe Poulan 2500 :msp_confused:

Not really a sign, but wish they were. They are 11"x17" poulan supplied dealer decals that has been stored away. I'm going to frame each one into a hanging sign for the shop/barn though.

Really as in similiar to a bumber sticker that you could put on a window or on a door? That's pretty cool also.

Dont know yet still on their way to me. Guy said they were thicker :msp_confused:.

I had even thought of putting magnetic backs on them for the shop fridge. Then thought protecting the outer surface might be a good idea.

If it hadnt been for the yellow one I wouldnt have bought them both. Never seen a sign or decal etc with that series yet.

Gregg,

Are they worth more with the old style Powersharp, as opposed to the non-Powersharp models? I recently got a Craftsman 2.0 with the old Powersharp system, but it was missing the stone. Didn't know if I should keep that or just switch out for a regular chain.

It seemed to me he got decent money for a good saw. What baffles me more is the perfectly good saws that don't bring nearly what they're worth. One case was the Poulan 25DA that didn't even get .99 bid on it. The best deals on ebay right now are those and the 10-10 Macs. A perfectly good 10-10 won't even bring $100. If you want one now's the time to buy!

I won't say they are more valuable, just a little more rare if they still have all their parts. Like you said, yours was missing the stone. Those are are hard to come by. I know ModifiedMark has one restored with a new stone etc. But I have never seen one. I have a Poulan 203 that that used to have Powers Sharp setup, but long been converted, like most other saws have been also.

If I had one, I probably wouldn't use it anyway. Just be a shelf sitter. More of a collector type thing. The stones and the chains are both hard to find. Mark will have to repost some pics of his restored setup. I think it was on a 245 SA I believe. My memorys not so good. LOL

Gregg,

Thanks Gregg. Just curious.

As Gregg alluded to, it all depends on what you are going to do with it.

A user, with the powersharp still intact is worth less than either, one with no P/S or one that the guts have been removed and discarded. The P/S system makes them heavier (throws off their sideways balance!LOL) and can REALLY screw up a normal chain if it gets loose and vibrates the stone down into the chain.

For a shelf queen, it is worth VASTLY more if it has the powersharp intact and all the parts are there, ESPECIALLY if it has a barracuda chain to go with it.
The reason is very simple, see "for a user" above.
The simple fact is, the VAST majority of these saws had the powersharp taken off and thrown away because no one wanted them on there. (it became even more prevalent when the barracuda chain went NLA) Therefore finding one like that is a "needle in a haystack" deal.

Hey Bob,

I'm assuming you drive to Vermont? That's quite the hike from Texas! My good friend used to live near you there and makes the drive from pa to Tx every so often and says its actually a great drive. Where are you located when in Vermont? My wife and I went up and skied at stratton mt. A few years ago. I love it up there.

No, I fly to Boston, then drive. It's roughly 1600 miles from Plano, Tx. I go to a town called orwell, which is near Middlebury, Vt.
