'Preciate the input on the 3.7, fellas. Heard back from the seller today and am evidently second in line if another buyer doesn't show up for it this evening...which is a polite way of saying SOL. My fault. It was listed on the 28th for $75 and I didn't move on it until Sat. I'm surprised it even lasted 10 minutes.

Well took a good look at my PP 295 Type 4 muffler. Internals are different than the 2775. I decided to drill holes around the removable muffler tubes and to leave the tube cover off the muffler. This way the exhaust should flow thru the tubes and out the front. Need to reassemble the saw once a couple parts arrive to test my mod.

PogoInthewoods,

I was looking for a used saw for some occasional cutting. Saw the listing for the craftsman and long story....and after trying to figure out the age and model, I ended up buying it last night.
Yes, it is NOS, Craftsman 358.xxx PS (with power sharpening feature) which from what I have been able to determine is the Pouland 3700. The chain was still in plastic and it includes a craftsman hardshell case.
Specs at 60cc (poulan says 61cc).
Saw was never used or even put together and was stored in the basement. The fuel line is shot....but everything else looks good ....so far.

Really strange spec in the manual....says fuel mixture is 16:1....
I looked at the poulan 3700 and fuel mix is 40:1
I will be calling Sears and maybe even Poulan to get the correct mix....or maybe you guys can help.

Small world....I didn't even know about this site, and found it by using google and trying to figure out the model on this.
I'm not even sure I need this much saw....as I said, I was just looking for a cheap used one to cut a few logs.

Sorry you missed it....as you are a saw guy and would appreciate it more.

Well howdy, Bow. And welcome to AS. Small world indeed!!!

You have just acquired a very cool saw, but if you do find that it is too much for your needs, well....

Nah, man. That saw will put a smile on your face and next thing ya know you'll be lookin' around for another one, then another one, then another one...

And those mix numbers are old school ratios given today's synthetic oils are typically used at 50:1, though lots of folks will still run 32:1~ 40:1 just as an added measure of protection. Forget Sears. Just post any questions about your new saw right here. You won't find higher quality advice and experience anywhere else on the planet.

You're a stand up guy for posting (gloating?) and I'm glad you ended up with such a fine specimen. But as we say around here when someone scores huge like you just did with that 3.7? You Suck!!!

But as luck would have it, (I must be livin' right), another one popped up last night and I wasted no time contacting the seller and making arrangements to get it. Almost as nice as yours and will be a sweet addition to the stable. He also has a real nice little XXV I may snag just because of my need to lick a wound or two.;)

Anyway, you did well and will enjoy that saw. As I mentioned earlier, I'm surprised it even lasted 10 minutes at $75. You got a steal. Congratulations, and don't be a stranger around here.

And where did you say you lived and hide the key to your garage? :ices_rofl:

Thanks guys for welcoming me.....and YES, I hate guys like me...they suck...darn Noob luck....too stupid to know better....

Anyway, I will take a few pics and upload them shortly.
I need to find my calipers to measure the fuel line for local supply...UNLESS, one of you know off hand the OD and ID of the line.

PS....Pogo....I see the black one you must have snagged....very nice.....

This is actually the one I was referring to. Not 100% sure it's a 3.7, but intend to find out! And I think your fuel line is going to be 3/16 I.D. x 1/4 O.D. and I go with the Tygon. If you haven't found the 36 page manual with the IPL included, shoot me a conversation message with your email address and I'll send it your way.

Welcome, and Way to go on finding that saw. This is gonna sound a little odd coming from me, lol, but I think I would leave that saw just the way it is. NEW & never monkeyed with. I realize it is not a rare model, but they are only new & never fueled once. :)
You can do what ya like with it, its YOUR saw. Thats a pretty easy model saw to find, they show up from well used up, to slightly used. But rarely never used. Especially with a complete Power Sharp setup. Most folks did away with the Power Sharp stuff, and just used regular chain.

Gregg,

Pogo...that one looks like new....good deal....
JJ... considering I am not a spring chicken, I sure hope it outlives me. Still may debate an ebay sale.

It came with the Sears Owners manual (of course it did...it's new...lol) and it lists the parts on several pages...however it is only 32 pages ....so not sure if it is the same.
I measured the fuel line (if you touch it, it crumbles) with calipers, OD measured .185", which is ~ 3/16". ID = .100 or 1/10, but then I measured the OD of the metal fuel filter and it was (at most narrow) = .185 (3/16"). My guess is the line has actually shrunk over so many years.

I didn't know if this fuel line was something I could just match up at Ace Hardware, or something I needed to order from someone (tygon).
Would you recommend just buying the complete fuel kit including new filter, or just the line, and should I get it via the part #.

Few more pics with cover on. It even came with a can of oil.
Thanks Again

> Maybe one of you collectors could give bow his money back plus a good used runner of same type saw so the NOS saw could be put away as a shelf queen.

Don't give him any ideas, guys. I at least want that other one, dammit!!!

Hey, wait a minute...

Hmmm...

Yup, I hate to even fire it up....one day it could be worth quite a bit...or the same...lol

JJ,
I'm up above Akron....but have a cabin down near Piedmont lake...I would guess you are down near the Dover/New Phili area.
