Hey Kostas..I read you had a sizable earthquake over your way. Everything OK? Or was it caused by you running your Poulan 4200? :D

Gregg,

Well, the earthquake was small (5.9) considering the damage it made to the constructions but it left the people outside of their homes, the weather is not helping the authorities to check the buildings.Kefalonia is an island and the people spending their days after the earthquake inside the Ferry boats that arrived there.I'm glad it was only that scale and no bigger.I live way far from this island.

I haven't run my Poulans for over 3 months now and i miss them.Maybe i will give them a try tommorow to see if they are still alive.

They didn't seem to have them in the stores very long around here. They looked like a well built saw. Do you have any idea where they were actually made?
Yes, they are made in Japan by Zenoah. Very well made engines and a hot little strato saw. Once you get past the plastics, the Redmax 400, Redmax 4000, Ryobi 10532 and the Craftsman 358362180 are all the same saw. There are one or two more clones I know of, I think one is a Mac. Brad Snelling modded one and was very impressed with how well it ran. Back about 2009 there were a bunch of the Ryobi 10532 version on the market and you could get a used one for around $100. Fun saws for limbing - light, well balenced, rev qiuck and cut really well. Also, respond to muff mods well. My favorite small saw to run.

I forgot to add - word is the 38-40cc Earthquakes are supposed to be based on this saw without the strato feature.

ya all know if the craftsman 3.7 model 358-354830 is crome plated???it has thin rings

Stubnail on the Poulan 3700 if they have two thin rings then it has the chrome plated cylinder.
it has thin rings i thought the craftsman ones were not plated....it looks worse then it is...... i sprayed wd 40 in there and the carbon made a mess........

i suppose i need to break it down to get better pics and find out if it can be saved.......any version of 3700 piston fit or does it have to be thin ring?

Yes, it has to be a 3700 piston. The unplated cylinder 3.7 is a Poulan 3800. Larger diameter chrome plated piston.

thanks.... i will post some pics when i break it down.....see what ya all think..... may have to try to buy a short block with a good piston and cylinder..... although far as i can see the cylinder looks good.... till i break it down LOL.....the saw is so clean make me ill .......it was raining so i did not peek through the muffler port... broke my own rule......

Well fellers, I pretty much gave up the idea of getting the Poulans out this weekend and doing some wood harvesting. :( Went back there with my truck and got stuck..Big Time. I couldn't even see the logs I had, they were covered in snow. Has to be at least 2-3' deep in the woods. Got high centered and couldn't budge. Hit mud down below. I tried for 45 minutes digging with my hands, a stick, couldn't make much progress. Couple of more feet, and I think I would have been out.
Called my sister with my cell phone. Had her stop at the house and get a chain. She came back with her Explorer and pulled me out. I can tell you that Bailey's Wild Ass jeans are not nearly warm enough to be crawling around in the snow when its this cold..LOL Hopefully some time in the near future I can get back to taking pics of Poulans doing some work.

Gregg,

whats all that white stuff?????

Not fun Gregg, once you get high centered there's not much left to do as far as getting out on your own power, luckily you had your phone! I'm heading back to the woods this Saturday to get some more oak. Seems like everyone is running low on wood this year

Dang Gregg, that aint good. Tough time of year for firewood, its either too much snow on the ground or the ground is in a mild thaw and too muddy. Found a guy trying to get rid of a BUNCH of slabwood today that he has been sitting on for a few years. I am curious as to what February has in store... If you get in a pinch and need the help, I could make myself available for a couple hours on an afternoon or two after I leave upper Sandusky, wouldn't be a problem at all.

Gregg, I feel for you somewhat. I have been fighting this stuff for sometime.

Here is what I was in last week, Griffith IN got about 2' of snow in just a few hours. Of course I had to be out in the middle of it. ;) For the record, I'm standing beside a F450 that is setting on top of some of the snow.

Poor Chris had to drive through that area that morning after he was working nights. He regretted not looking at the weather and driving the car to work instead of the 4wd truck.
