That may have been me Bob. I was looking for one back in Oct last year.
I solved the problem.
Those are becoming very difficult to find now. I would think there are some guys out there that could really use one. I don't think they are any better or worse than the 3400, 3800 starters. I think it's the flailers that mess them up or the 20+ pulls trying to start a saw in need of repair.
October! Man I didn't think it was that long ago. Thought there was a later post looking for one.

It seems that the tv networks try to make a big thing about a bunch of guys playing a game. I watched part of it, I didn't see anything to get excited about. I have no idea why they call it the super bowl. But then again I am not a sports fan.

You might as well say that Stihl saws are the only saws. Poison , I say you spew poisen..

Speaking of mismatched saws:
Here's the Redmax halftime riddle:
What is 1/2 Craftsman, 1/2 Ryobi and all Redmax?

View attachment 331847 View attachment 331849 View attachment 331850

A saw built out of a Craftsman Professional 40cc saw and a Ryobi 10532, both of which are clones of a Redmax 400.

Yup. A few of us have picked some of those up to mod. You can sometimes find them at the pawnshops for a good price because they think they're just another Ryobi ro Craftsman homeowner special. Sweet little saws for the size.

Yep. I've been playing with them the last couple of years. Didn't have CAD or get one of those back around 2009 when the Ryobis were the hot ticket, but heard about it on here and now have a couple of Ryobis, a couple of Redmaxes, the Craftsman/Ryobi mutt and a NOS Craftsman on the way. I really like those little saws. They are my preferred small saw and I like the Poulan 3400, 3700, 3800 for a medium saw. A Solo 680 is my big saw. Guess I really need to get something like a 5200, but haven't found one for a good price yet.

I have a few parts saws in the Ryobi / Craftsman / McCulloch variants. If you run into a need I might be able to cover ya.

If my shoulder is acting up the little RedMax clones are my "Go To" saw. Otherwise I'm partial to a Poulan 2800 or J Red 2050. Next up would be a variety of sizes and brands, then my current "Big" saw is a Makita 6401.

I could offer to help you with that 5200, but a certain fella from the left coast has started negotiating on the one I have. If that falls through I may put it on here to see if there's any interest in it. It's the Craftsman 5.2/30" version.

Thanks for the offer. I have a parts saw for the Redmax clones, too, which is where I'm getting the parts for the Craftsman/Ryobi mutt build. I'm basically building one saw from the parts of 2 non-runners. The Ryobi had low compression, but good parts and the Craftsman had a good running engine but missing clutch cover, busted recoil and leaking oil tank. Should get one good runner out of it, but I'll keep your offer in mind. If you need parts I may be able to help you, too.

As for the 5200, I'd definitely like one, so let me know if the deal with that left coaster falls thru.

I know I just ain't "normal"
I have relatives who seem to care about who wins and who looses.
When I ask them why they care I get no response,
they just give me a hateful look, like you might look at a threating alien from another planet.
Living in Michigan for 62 of the last 64 years, I have saved myself from decades of disappointment
by ignoring professional sports. :)

Watching sports is a good time for family to get together. I enjoy rooting for a certain team and watching their progress. It gives you something in common with others like chainsaws. Last but not least it beats watching a bunch of Hollywood liberals on TV.

I don't hardly ever watch sports either, but I think this is the most valid reason for doing so. In the bigger scheme of things, does it really make a crap whether a bunch of kids from Seattle beat a different bunch of kids from Denver? I think the answer is a resounding NO!

as long as they do as much good as they can for the USA with all that stupid $$$ then I am ok with it. play on. There are millions of starving and cold US citizens right now.

I am also a firm believer in help yourself before accepting help from others.

I keep my eyes open for a Craftsman 5.2, figure that I might find one for a good price (yeah, right) because of the Craftsman name. Any time I see a Craftsman that is a 'better' Poulan model (I look for AV on newer saws), or doesn't appear to be Poulan, I check 'em out.

Apparantly my Craftsman/Solo 651SP has been lost, at least not scanned properly, by the USPS. I've asked the seller to start official procedures with USPS to find it.

Chris,
Good luck on tracking down the Craftsman/Solo. I agree about buying Craftsman/Poulans - they are a better deal than the Poulan badged Poulans.

P.S. I did get that Craftsman/Ryobi it has never been run. Apparently bought, had a teaspon of oil in the cylinder and stored, no oil or fuel ever put in either tank.

So it is basically NOS? Sweet!!

Thanks for the support. I'm doing all communicating through eBay messaging to be safe, am going to give it a couple of more days to see what happens, don't want to turn it into an official eBay dispute just yet. The bad part is my CAD fund is tied up in this saw. I'd like to know what's happening so that I can anticipate getting the saw (preferred), or a refund that I can use on something else (a certain Poulan friendly eBay seller has listed some nice bars ;) ;)) .

Good Morning: I can use some help regarding a nice clean Poulan 5200 that I have. It had no spark and so I replaced the the transformer with a NOS piece. The result? No spark.
I took it all apart and cleaned it, looked at all the connections, wires, switch and still...no spark.
So the only other option is to replace the ignition module? Is there a source for this piece and is that really the only other thing it can be? Any tricks?
All help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Did you remove the spark plug wire from the coil and check for continuity? The connection to the coil can also be suspect if the wire is loose.
