For someone with only 23 posts, you got an awful nice selection of saws in your lineup.

Re my Craftsman/Solo 651SP.

There was one of those local for $75. Looked nice but just couldnt do it. I did a thread on it on chainsaw repair to show folks so they know.

Hope yours turns up.

Been there with a 372 lost in the mail. Did turn up broken and pieces missing about 3 weeks later.

.
Sorry to hear about your 372. I bought my 2171 locally, & it made its way via USPS Parcel Post to Terry Landrum intact. Riverrat2 brought it back from a GTG, so no 2nd chance for the PO to lose it.

The CM/Solo 651SP set me back $93.00 total, BIN + shipping. I don't have buyers remorse, I'm wanting to obtain some of the more obscure Craftsman models such as the Solo 651 & the Redmax GZ400.

I might have been better off using the $$ to fill a gap in my Poulan collection, & I have plenty of 50cc class saws, which includes Poulan (a PP4620AVHD, a PP295 with a chainbrake, a PP5020), Husqvarna (a 51, a 346XP), and several project Jonsereds 49SPs. Notice how I worked Poulan into this post :D.

The seller sent me some details. Apparantly (???) the local postal supervisor decided to ship the saw via truck instead of by plane because the box smelled of gasoline. If true, the seller should've done a better job packing the saw. It seems that the package was never scanned into the system, something that the PO can't explain.

I'm giving until the end of the week, then I'll open an official dispute with eBay. The last time that I went through a dispute with eBay I got frustrated by the limited options to choose from with no way to submit detailed explanations other than messages directly to the seller.

Did you remove the spark plug wire from the coil and check for continuity? The connection to the coil can also be suspect if the wire is loose.
Thanks Tim> I have gone through that stuff and so far no success. Not too much else to look at.

'Preciate it DBoyd! I haven't been active on here for too long but have been "lurking" and soaking up info for a few years. Don't know why I procrastinated that long though. :scratches head:

Good Morning: I can use some help regarding a nice clean Poulan 5200 that I have. It had no spark and so I replaced the the transformer with a NOS piece. The result? No spark.
I took it all apart and cleaned it, looked at all the connections, wires, switch and still...no spark.
So the only other option is to replace the ignition module? Is there a source for this piece and is that really the only other thing it can be? Any tricks?
All help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

I bought a 5200 about 15 months ago for $25.00 that the owner said would not run. He had replaced the plug and done some other things and had no spark. I swapped all the ignition parts and sti no go. Pulled the switch off a junker and installed and the saw has been running ever since.

Since the coil and module are separate, I wonder if a chip could replace the module? I don't know if anyone's tried it. If you have a chip, why not give it a try?
The modules are out there but are somewhat scarce.

I agree, check the switch on that 5200 with no spark!!

Like Guido said..check the switch, and don't overlook that ground wire that is under the clutch cover, at the rear. That needs a good clean connection also. That wire is needed because of the rubber ISO mounts.

Gregg,

Gregg,
New switch, same results. Will continue to check all wires and connections, again!

Frank

Thanks for the input. I will change the switch and see what happens.

This frozen tundra crap is getting out of hand!

Make sure none of your wires are chafed and are grounding out on the saw frame.
