Keep the fitting and use it for another Poulan. Use the correct fitting on the 4200 that you have. I'm not sure why you would not use it.
The little piece of tubing that was on the 4200 vent was smaller than the little tube you get with a can of WD40.
As for the muffler, it doesn't come apart.
Have a look at the manual and IPL. You would find them helpful.

I see your fuel line is clear. Is that plain vinyl? If it is it will be hard and brittle in a month or two. It would be better if you used Tygon.

Thanks Tim, I'm just going to order the right vent/relief part for the 4200. The fuel line is replacement line for saws, trimmers, etc which I thought would be fine. Is Tygon a brand of fuel line?

Looks like you caught it just in time, carbon build up and broke loose to me. Lets see the after

Plans changed last night and all I had time to do was disassemble everything. But on that note, how is the best way to get the carbon out of the rounded top part of the cylinder?
I have to work late tonight but I'm hoping to get everything cleaned up tomorrow and reassembled.

Use a stick like a piece of dowel and cut a chisel point on it. When you spray the cleaner on the carbon will come off quite easily I don't know how badly your piston is scored but do make sure there is no aluminum pick up on your cylinder. If there is, you need to get it off or you will ruin that cylinder. You can get pistons for the saw for around $40 plus rings but the cylinders are hard to come by.
Make sure the rings aren't pinched where the scoring is.
I think you will be impressed by the power that 69 cc saw has.

This oven cleaner spray I got says not to use one aluminum or chrome. Still ok to use on this cylinder and piston?
