QpOTE="OhioGregg, post: 5194997, member: 27684"]Wow! All them part numbers make my head hurt. Back when I got that kit from Poulan, I knew there were other saws, that used a C3A carb, like a lot of Stihls. Was never quite sure which one to get. LOL I think it is easier just to put a Walbro HDB on it. I did just that, as a test, and could tell no difference.

Gregg,[/QUOTE]

Yep, that carb gave me a headache too. I should have just swapped it out with a HDB, as I never found the original GND-23 kit like yours.
Ended up using a Stihl -21 kit for it.

Then I just noticed that the bell shaped idle adjuster screw had been replaced with an aluminum screw from what appears to be a
Briggs flo-jet carb with the head ground off tapered...that's why I called ZAMA, to get the right adjuster screw number. I'm too
far gone to turn back now, & the little carb runs fine.

You won't find this in your local Ace store.

I THINK its a straight forward job. I have not personally changed them except when I had the whole saw tore down and case split. I know ModifiedMark has done a ton of them, he always says its an easy job..;)

Gregg,

He's also kind of a poulan professor though haha!

Well this may be the problem. There is supposed to be a key here in the crank shaft that fits onto the fly wheel? It's just an empty spot.

Went to pull the fitting of the starter switch and it broke off pretty easily. Got find a new switch attachment now.

Looks like a pretty standard crimped spade terminal connector. You should be able to pick up a small blister pack at any hardware store. Likely a barrel style crimp fitting is easiest to terminate. Strip, twist the stranded wire well, insert and crimp barrel. Good for another 3o years.

:baba: Woah, I remember those days too well of rocking chairs, red liquid Tylenol to bust the fevers, and 7 UP to calm the pukes. Take care of you too!

Wife and I have no children but do have a 70 pound red lab hound mix. Sammy.JPG

My situation is different. Here's a hint. I'm accountable for 400 children and get to go home at 3:45PM. Figure that one out.

I would do a whole new wire. All I need is the coil tab width and the total wire length. I can see the on/off tab size- the old Poulan toggles are all the same. Let me know if you want me to make you one- I just did one- only a 5 minute job.

I see moto seal all over the place on this site. What's the best brand of gasket product? The treads on the fuel fitting to the tank on the 141 did not like being loosened so I want to put a sealer on them when I do the lines. Thanks

There is one thing you kinda want to watch when you replace seals on these, (5200). The inner edges of the seal have a want to catch on the step, off set on the crank shaft, and want to pull the seal inside out so to speak. Mark has a way to do it, where ya wrap a thin piece of metal or something around the shaft, well lubed, slide seal on, then pull the "guide" out.

Gregg,

Thanks Gregg. Should there be any play at all in the crank shaft going side to side. Like when I grab the fly wheel and pull or push it, it will move back and forth just a tiny bit.

I guess a "tiny bit" wouldn't bother me...LOL I don't know what the tolerances are for them. It will take someone higher up the knowledge ladder than me to explain that. :D
