If the 4200/5200 I know of FS he was asking $350. Younger guy that got saw from is grandpa.
Yeah, for some reason he wants to get rid of it or trade it for some kind of saw... But what he's been looking at compares not to the 4200/5200 he has... And it was his grandpa's saw! Come on kid! Smdh. I have a like new(still has inspection stickers on it... Prob less than 3-5 tanks ran in it) Homie 330 that i was thinking about offering him for trade. Said he wanted something smaller and lighter and less noisy. Ha.

You're brave. I would be afraid I wouldn't know how to put the saw back together
4 bolts hold the cyl on... Ain't but one way it goes back on. :) Best thing is to take pics of how things were connected/routed before disassembly if you have any reservations. But you have the world of knowledge here too to help! :) let the fun begin!

Ok, thanks Gregg! Pulling the cylinder off is the only to do it right? Look at all this carbon that was in the muffler!

Yep, just pull it. easy enough to do. Don't worry about the gasket. Some guys just use a fuel safe sealer, and no gasket. Or, I have just made new ones out of thin card board, like from pop or beer carton, if ya want a gasket and don't have an original. These saws usually have a very wide squish band to play with.

Gregg,

Gregg,

I bought some gasket material a while back to make my own gaskets, I'll probably just do that. Thanks Gregg!

Base gasket delete and use motoseal in my opinion.
Loose jug explains low compression and hard starting I guess.
I'm an idiot. Didn't have it long enough to even try it out!

My frankensaw 3400/4000 is blowing 160+ on a well used top end just from pulling the gasket.

I've got Mototseal, I could just use that I guess. Yeah I spent about an hour or so going over it last night.

What is the purpose of the duck bill?

Well my co-worker called and told me my p/c came in, I hate that it's 30 miles away and my saw is 7 miles away at the farm. Can't drive and get either to have something to piddle with. Man I hate being stuck at the house and not able to do anything. I did get to go on a walk through, my father dropped off my late mother's walker for me to use so at least I'm not stuck in the house.

Take pictures of a saw when tearing down. That way you have ref on how to put it back together. IPL's, owners manuals and service manuals are available for many many saws. Nothing to be afraid of - its only a chainsaw. Most of the time all you loose is some time - worst case scenario a couple bucks - usually fuel line.

If you get stuck - ask questions. That's one of the main reasons this site exists . There are enough guys on here that pretty much any chainsaw question can be answered.

Happy late Veterans Day to you and all the other guys that have served !!!!!

Hey, you wake up early too lol. I have to wake up at 3:30 now for my new job. There's always tradeoffs it seems.

Pics are a good idea. I usually try to do that in the beginning then get lazy and forget lol. Can't wait to dig into the Echo and get it running.

Thanks. I also forgot about the Marine Corps' birthday!
