I think it is sad that some people are hording so many big Poulans. The reality is unless you pay a highly inflated fictional "fair value" for one of those saws many people will never see one. In the end after the saws have sat for many years and not being in wood they will be inherited by the family. The family in turn will most likely want nothing to do with the saws and will sell cheap or scrap for pennies on the dollar. What a waste of many years of good use or fun.

Gary is the master of finding saws he wants, no matter where they are.
Personally I'm fine with collectors holding on to a bunch of saws. Preserving them for the future. Yeah, price gets inflated on some, but deals still come along.
Think how many of them were simply used up, burned up and tossed decades ago.
When the big countervibes pop up around here on occasion they are usually pretty reasonable. $160 for my 4200 from the original owner, my buddy got a nice 5400 this week for $140. Occasionally some guy will look at eBay prices and try to get $300 for a clapped out 5200, but it won't sell.
Point is, big time collectors (or hoarders if you want to use that term) are keeping a number of them safe, dry, etc for the future.

Hope so. I'll just have to find solace with the Echo 900 I'm picking up tomorrow.

Oh yeah? What makes it "holy grail" worthy for you? You think I'll be disappointed in how it cuts compared to my Makita 6421?
I'm an echo fan, obviously.
It's not about cutting speed to me. Just the fact it's a 90cc echo is good enough for me.
Just like I want a good running echo twin. Not for the power, just the cool/weird factor.

I know for a fact that there was an email sent about 2 seconds after that lead was posted. How are you getting the saw and no one else is getting replies?

I sent him a message at 7:42 PM EST on Tuesday, he responded at 8:23 PM. Called and spoke with him and found out he had PayPal and would ship. He boxed the saw, gave me the dimensions and weight and I sent him the shipping label and he dropped it off at the Post Office yesterday. Package will be here tomorrow, he took the ad down last night.

Oh true, should have noticed your screen name lol. Big Echo's do seem pretty rare. I like the uncommon/weird factor too. One of the reasons I bought the Makita and want a big Poulan. Not many people know about how good Makita chainsaws are and everyone seems to think Poulans are crappy saws. Father in-law didn't realize Makita made chainsaws. I like being able to keep up with his high priced Stihl.

Not being smart - there were no names in my previous post. I appreciate your opinion and I understand the keeping safe for the future but that's only one scenario with the saws sitting for years collecting dust with no use. The other is - there are guys out there that can / will appreciate the saws just as much if not more. Those are the kind of guys that would give them a good overhaul, paint , decals new b/c and actually have the saw in wood from time to time. I'm OK with not having one. I'm speaking for the guy that is actively looking.

Weird- here is the time stamp on my email with phone number. " Tuesday, November 10, 2015 6:55 PM "

I have no special ability to acquire saws that other people don't. I have no contacts at any saw shops and no network of people looking for me. I do not repair saws and my neighbors have no idea I collect saws. I am not actively looking for saws and probably only spend 5-10 minutes each day looking at CL or other sources. I rarely look at e-Bay, it has to be a saw I want for me to pursue it.

That being said, I am always prepared to make a deal, I have cash ready if one arises. I am going after work today to check out a couple of items that I will flip if the price is right.

I wasn't trying to stir anything up posting that link to the 4200 that Guido got. I just know Ambull was looking for one so I posted that one up that I saw. I didn't have the funds to go after it so I though maybe one of you all might. I won't post anymore links to saws or if I do I'll keep it in the CL thread.
