I wasn't trying to stir anything up posting that link to the 4200 that Guido got. I just know Ambull was looking for one so I posted that one up that I saw. I didn't have the funds to go after it so I though maybe one of you all might. I won't post anymore links to saws or if I do I'll keep it in the CL thread.
That the one that was ran without air filter? Can def see some lines on intake side. Hope to not be a prob with new rings though...

All is good. I sure every one is OK.
If I find something and I'm not interested or don't have funds or whatever, I'd rather one of you all get it than someone else.
Got a great deal on a 4200 and picked it up today. Saw was about an hour away from me, so Echoshawn picked it up for me since he is closer than I am. (Thanks again Shawn). It's not pretty but its a runner! It's an early model with the flat front and screw on top of top cover but has a later model spike on it. A couple other interesting things, it has I believe a later full wrap handle on it and the clutch cover is a factory one with a bow bar cut out on it. I've never seen one of those before.

$65 -- The guy called me back- I was second in line. Nice job!!!!!!!
I don't know but someone on here should. Thanks, do you know if I'm right about the clutch cover? It looks factory cut like that and Shawn and I seem to think it's for a bow bar.

Is that thing all metal? Also, is it anti-vibe? Looks like work horse.
And here's one I'm grabbing. Not listed anywhere so don't bother looking. One owner 4900.
Took the cylinder off of the 4000 last night to clean it up a bit on the inside. Here are a couple pics during the job. Only question mark I have is in the last pic of piston on the bottom left there seems to be an edge that you can feel with your finger. Not sure what it's from. Put a new gasket in though and put it back together, runs really good except for at wide open throttle when 4 stroking it kind of hickuped for a split second a couple times. Not sure why but I need to cut with it to get a better idea, might just be cause it hasn't run in quite a while. Carb was clean though.

Nate, Looking at that last pic of your piston, leads me to think the ring gap is excessive. I realize it is not compressed in that pic, but sure looks wide. The discoloration on the piston, right below that gap, makes me think there is some blow by there. I think if it were me I would try to find a set of rings for that 4000. Just my guess anyway. Its hard to diagnose someones saw from a pic on the internet. LOL If you do a compression check on it, most 4000's that I have seen in good shape will usually be right at 150 lb. Small amount either way is fine too.
