wow thats awsome

Since it was so nice here today, I was in the back of the shop putting some things away and I thought I would drag all the Poulans out in the daylight to take a photo of them all together since I have had several request to do so.

Bout worked up a sweat, not really realizing how they accumulate.

So here they are, there all runners except the 245 in the front row which is the next Poulan project.

sweeettttttt!!!!!

No problem I'll send everyone of those POS super 2's to you then. Took quite awhile last time to give them away with them having to pay the shipping.

There are Poulan Micros for me, 10x better then those little Homelite XL's and Mini macs.

Hey, don't be trash talkin the XL and Super 2. A long, long time ago and for a long, long time these were the only two saws I had. They did tons of storm damage and general clean-up. Could use them for a couple of days, run them dry, then 2 yrs later put fresh mix and would pop right off and do a bunch more work.
However, I went sour on them when I had to overhaul a carb on one of them, what a PITA to dis and reassemble.
you can see from my sig I'm now a Poulan fan.

Hey stubnail67, Heres a pic of the Poulans we ran at are little GTG this spring. :)
Now that I look at the picture again, I thought was a lot of Poulans in one spot.
But, I think Mark has that beat by himself. LOL

Glen, sorry but I just call a spade a spade! Your also right though and when it comes to serviceing them, thats what draws the line in the sand for me!

I just have no interest or use for them at all and wont be bringing any more home unless I have to take them to get the others that I want.

Holy crap Mark! BTW what do you use to replace the duckbill valve on the 245/306. Seems to be NLA.
Bob

Bob, try part # 530026119 there still in the system from Poulan. There a little over $2 apiece. I most the time just use the homelite duckbills as I buy them by the bagfull. You just have to enlarge the center hole in the star retainer in the cap for them to fit. I know I posted pictures in this thread before. I guess I should have started a new thread when I did it to make it eaiser to find.

Mark, don't throw them away or pay the shipping. Just put them in a pile and I will come down there and pick them up...

Trust me I won't be paying the shipping! Its bad enough to take the time to box em up and take them to be shipped, just to give them away. Don't make much sense does it?

After what you did for Chris though, I would do all that for you in a heartbeat!

I hated to tell him but I can usually buy the little Homelites (and Poulan Micros) cheaper than the postage would be if he mailed them to me.. I think I've bought about a half dozen of each this year for $5 each.

Yeah I have bought a few for like $10-20 in great shape as well. Typical abuse, sitting for years with fuel in them and the owner dont mess with them when they wont start.

I have been playing with the 3400s, my impression of them is good. I don't see where people get the idea they are cheaply made, economicly made, but not cheap. They are straight forward, simple, robust where they need to be. I'll be finding out how they cut in a few days. My only comment about construction is that cheesy muffler, I'd just soon bolt on a Mac stack.
I am left wondering about the 5 cube models, which screamin' Green model represents them the best?

Umm the best? Well that would be this 85cc 5200!

Thing is, in big wood you have to be carefull with it. It will throw so many chips so fast it will bury you in them and you will have to get someone to throw a rope around you and pull you out with the truck!

LOL, I'm right here, where I all ways am.:) That log is long gone, but the others are still there. Or exercise logs for 85cc Poulans. You"all know how to get here, you were here once..LOL One annoying thing I found on my 5200, last time I used it, was that danged 1 screw top cover rattles. I tried to fit a rubber gasket under the screw head. Helped a little, but still rattles.

Gregg,

That would be one of the reasons I prefer the 5400 and the 8500 but I take no credit what so ever from the 5200. I'll be there again Gregg! (patiently waiting)

I've never seen a 5200 at any of the flea markets though, or a 330 or anything like that. Occasionally they have a Stihl or two at Stihl-like prices. The Huskys are cheaper when you can find them. I've found 2 this year.

do yourself a favor...do not lust after a Poulan. I had a Craftsman version 4200 for 30 years and it gave me nothing but trouble. I actualy had to pull the starter handle to start it. Sometimes 2 or 3 times! I don't know what kind of spark plug it uses because I never had to change it. (probably something to do with the electronic ignition..)

And I might add that they will melt if your barn/shop burns down....

Oh and the 4200/5200/8500 have a great exhaust system with a huge outlet port right from the factory.....

everybody knows that Poulans are not worth the effort needed to throw them in the dumpster.....

move on get a Huskie and be happy...leave the old Poulans to us old guys who don't know any better...

It's a nice try Stephen,
But I think it's too late!
I believe that ol' boy has done caught on to our "secret"!
