Took out my 5 S25Da's to start and run. Haven't been run in over a year so thought it time. Three saws run and idle great . Two saws though start and run great but The chain won't stop regardless of how the carb is adjusted. The clutches look okay though Im not sure how to tell if the flat springs are weak. With the bars off the sprocket spins freely by hand. NOt brave enough to try running the saw w/o the bar cover on. Any ideas?

If the ones spinning the sprockets have the brass bushing instead of a bearing, clean them up real good then but them back together with just a drop of oil on the bushing instead of grease. Just flip the flat springs over while you got the clutch off..

The spring gets divots worn at the contact points and looses preload.

Yup. Brass bushing. Will give it a go. I also have two different style sprockets. Wonder if the one with the built up center might cause the proble.

Called the guy today, saw is still available. Had to get my daughter from gymnastics so wasn't able to go see it tonight, but tomorrow is another day. He works till 6, I work till 5:30.... Hopefully nobody else figures out its a decent saw. All his other saws in his add are "ok" but not worth my time...

Oh I was told the 744 was a runner too. I didnt care if it was or not. Just glad the right folks want one.

I need to stop looking for saws

Seen ad for craftsman 3.7, figured the one I could care less about for myself. Got a pic and I was like heck ya. The 60cc one I am into with 24" bar when new.
I have only seen 3 and maybe heard of 4 total. I have owned 2 of the 3 I seen before. Last one I sold was 2 a guy here that had been searching for one for 2 years. Told him I aint married to any saws.

This one had wrong bar nuts and washers but no big deal. Also still has the craftsman 24" labeled K041 mount 3/8 bar.

That's a fantastic find!

All done now that the muffler parts came in to make it right the way I wanted on the other 2.

2 were bought for parts saws for my runner. But I just finished up the other 2 now as all the muffler parts were found that I wanted to make them right.
My 3 3 cube size saws I love to cut with 16" under. Poulan 335 predator saws without the chain brake.

Still my favorite saws. One of these days I'll find a 60ccer. Missed the Tim Allen 3750 by 1 day a couple years ago.

Picked up a Craftsman 3.7 and had it shipped to Vermont. Need a carb kit so I ordered a hdb carb kit, also shipped to Vermont. While there I started to rebuild the carb and the darn kit had a metering diaphragm with the large protruding nipple and the pump diaphragm had a missing guide hole. Should have bought the Walbro kit And not some off brand. Live and learn.

Uhhh...., Grind off the nipple and poke the guide hole in the pump diaphragm?
Yea, I could have lowered the nipple. I tried to punch a hole but could not get carb to hold pressure. Was leaking badly where the new hole was punched. The saw itself looked brand new, hardly any wear. Thin ringed. Think I got it for $70 including shipping.

Bob, I have used lots of AM carb kits and never really had issues that I can remember. Sounds to me like it was the wrong # HDB kit.

I've been struggling with what I thought was a failing oil pump on one of my 3000's. I can run a 1/4 tank of oil and it starts drying up. I noticed the tank was gasping when I opened it. Traced it back to what I figure is the vent cotter pin by the bar pad. It always seems to get buried under the thick doug fir cake. Seals up in short order.

Not sure if anyone has run into a similar issue? I thought about venting the cap.

Seems like it should oil normally again after the tank burp (for at least a short period of time) if it were a venting issue. One of your innovative cap vents would certainly fix the cotter pin problem if that's what it is.

BTW, do have a handy link to those cap vent pics? Very cool idea that I forgot to bookmark. I've searched here a couple times but couldn't find it. Maybe it's on SH?
