The one I just got going needs the line replaced, pressure is going around the line, done got hard and my luck I used all the line a had replacing the fuel lines. I'll pickup some next weekend and get that knocked out. Got to get a thread insert for the other one, someone ham fisted one of the cylinder bolts and stripped the threads in the case.

You ever have one of those weeks! Putting together a 4000 and a 3400. These are driving me to open a bottle of Jack. Replaced seals, no leaks. Rebuilt carbs. The 4000 runs but won’t stay running and the 3400 won’t start. Wonder if the carbs are shot. Pulled carbs and they hold pressure and closing the lo and hi pressure will drop slightly when I depress the metering diaphragm. So they seem okay. May have to start over from scratch. Gotta be something simple.

sometimes the thinkin cap here has a jack label on it...

Bob, make sure you have the right circuit plate gasket in the carb. That will mess things up quite a bit

In the pic, it's the one lower right

All this trouble with oil systems ... Im working on this Echo , the pump is so simple . Crank cam driven . Just needs o rings. Its even adjustible . I might still sip the jack , because I like it . LOL

That is a common issue with those. Echo still sold the proper size o rings for them last I knew. I hope you counted the number of turns it took to remove that, it makes it much easier to get it close to being where it needs be when putting it back in.

Master Carr has the parts for the 4000 pump
90025k133 quad rings
99142a330 internal snap ring
91792a199 pan head screw ss hold pump to engine 8 32 x 1 if you need any

I never thought about looking there for those quad rings.

Poulan used 2 other size rings as well and are probably listed there too.

The problem with McMaster Carr is even though they are mostly inexpensive you have to buy 100 at a time and there shipping is high.

Maybe someone or I will, look em up and buy 100 of all three sizes at once then split them up with guys here. Problem with that is there are too many here that will say, yeah I'm in, then when the time comes they leave you holding the bag. That happened to me on those 361 type fuel line fittings that a great guy offered to manufacture for us and it was a lot more money then this would be.. This is not a shot at anyone here, some of the guys back then are not even around now.

If you want to get 100 of each size, then I will say right now I would split them with you and take half of them and I stand by my word.

I can buy quad rings and orings and such from these guys. http://herculesus.com/home.php

If we can figure out witch size they tend to be reasonable with minimal orders of 10 to 20 depending on the item. If you can wait till we get a stock order shipping would be pretty minimal.

That’s the one I used. Dis a pressure test on my 3800. Put my compressor on 10 lbs cause I couldn’t find a leak. Finally pulled oil pump cover and found a huge leak coming from the bottom of the pump. I know Mark says you have to block the case under the pump but Ive never had an issue like this before in doing a pressure test. Not sure how to fix other than to make all new gaskets.

I already have the 100 of each, how many do you want

Did more looking and the pump to case gaskets looks real good. Now think that the leak has to be in the oil pump itself.

I've had most of them hold without blocking off the impulse passage to the crankcase. Maybe your pump is leaking. Sometimes the little check ball gets stuck open in the pump. A little fiddling with the ball can free it up..

Does the oiler work? If it does I would just make a gasket for the case that omits the impulse passage hole and check to see if you have any other air leaks.

I generally do make new case to pump gaskets and pump cover gaskets as they can leak and the pump doesn't work well or not at all.

I need these 15418, 1611, 23358

It was apart when I got it but I have this one I can count. Thanks for the tip.

Never heard that story. If you’ve still got 4 or 5 extra I’m in. Getting tired of pulling fuel lines to fix leaking gas from 4200/5200 tank tops every year or two.
