I wont swear to it, but I think this is kit I got for my 375. It has the Zama carb on as mentioned. To many years ago. May not be available anymore, I dont know. Its easy to just swap to the Walbro version as found on most all these Poulans. Every thing is in same location, choke & throttle, mix screws etc.375 016.jpg100_0014.JPG

Gregg,

So found a guy selling (supposedly running) a 2050 and a 2150 about a half hour from me. He either wants $50 each or $50 for both. I was thinking about picking up both (not that I need more saws) and give the 2050 with the 14" bar to the boy to learn on. I have an Echo CS400 with a 16" bar that would suit his need as well, but if we get to cutting on smaller wood and we both end up cutting, I really dont want to have to lug the 3700 with a 20" bar around either.
Are these saws decent enough for him? Maybe buy both and I'll sell the one he doesnt like. I had a Wild Thing and was not a fan. Kept having problems with crank seals so I chucked it a few years ago.
Thanks.

Well, This didn't go quite as smoothly as hoped. LOL Had some trouble starting the 5200. Took things apart and found mud daubers made one hell of a condo out of it. On top of air cleaner and down under was packed. Recoil cover and behind was full too. Geeez, leave saws sit for a few years and look what happens. :dizzy: Got in running, and was going well. I mucked up and got the chain in the dirt, at the end of cut. Then on was just makin dust. So quit.

The 655 ran well but oiler is not working. Have to look into that sometime. Funny thing as I was running it, twice I hit the kill switch with my gloved hand. My left thumb is allways trying to pump an oiler, as with my usuall 4000 etc. LOL The 385xp ran great, as always. I'll put the videos in the next post, such as they are.

Gregg,

Was cutting the other day and looked down to see a bee on my arm trying to sting me through my shirt. Flipped it off and kept on and realized more we’re trying so I took off running. Turns out I stepped on an underground nest while cutting. Wasn’t yellowjackets but they were less than pleased. Somehow managed to not get stung which I’m very pleased with as I’ve never been stung in my life.

Gregg,
Don't tell anyone but I use air tight tool boxes in my wood shed for saws! Damn mudd daubers.

Well it might be a good thing to get a doctor to test you to see if your allergic to some stings if your gonna play in the woods with a saw. I get stung on average about 5 times a year.
Having an epi pen if your allergic to something is a lifesaver.

Gregg,

Well, they’ve got good taste in picking out a home! I hate those destructive little bastards.

Lucky they didn’t go up the muffler port. You must have a pond, stock tank, or creek close by. That’s another reason why I keep the spark screens in the muffs.

This little Texas based S25 cylinder was swallowed up in them. Another time I had bought a 306 that they etched the cylinder’s chrome bore & ruined it. Seller could have tried to start & run it with the dirt nest & all inside too, who knows...

Yep, that’s surprising with you having the ketipo & redback spiders. Having no snakes is nice too, just like Hawaii.

These two fanged friends, pygmy or timber rattler & a big female copperhead were both at the lake house this weekend.

We disturbed them mowing & cleaning up brush. Let them go, as the kids are all grown & gone, plus the dogs weren’t there. It’s all good as long as I see them first or they’re headed away from me, lol.

Yeah plenty other wasps and waspy hornety things and lots of spider's too. Perhaps there further up north but never heard of them until AS.

I guess the odd snake really isn't an issue unless its cornered thankfully not here. I can't imagine being a plumber or a sparky getting under houses and other tight places. Shuddering thinking about it. We poke fun at the Philippino at work he'll jump if warned of a snake but the poor guy has grown up with them and its almost instinct I guess.

Was down the river and noticed an odd sand patch and realized this little hornety thing of some sort was trying to drag this spider somewhere the spider was twitching a bit here n there but helpless. Watched for about 20 min with the boy and they traveled about 2 inches but it wasn't giving up though. That spider was pretty big maybe 30mm leg span I guess and was a wolf spider which are dam fast can swim on and under water yet that little wasp got it. I presume now it was probably trying to take it to a nest.

Maybe we do have them and maybe the nasty German wasp has been wiping them out. Thats the usual wasp we ever really see or know of the assholes lol

Funny you mention muffler port...This spring I decided to use a 4000 I havn't used in some time. Several years. Ran it some, was a rattle in muffler. My first thought was one of the screws taht attach it to case, as outer ones were fine. Never had one loosen. Opened it up, was mud dauber nest bouncing around in there. Him or his nest never made it in the cylinder.

Gregg,

Gonna try posting video links here......this will be a chore I fear. Says my video to big. So I tried uploading to youtube. They changed that since I last used it years ago. My internet sucks here. Took all day to load 2 videos. So havn't loaded the 385xp, just the two Poulans.

Gregg,

Id be real curious to see the 385 vid to see how it stacks up in comparison.

I didn’t want to say it but I was gonna say I felt like my 372xp could keep up with the 2 older poulans. Now I run a 24” bar on it right now but bought it for a large oak that looked about as big as that tree. The 385 is advertised as 6.3hp and a 372 at 5.3hp. Can’t find HP specs for the 5200 or 655 but have to imagine it’s around the 5-6 range. But they’re also 40 yrs old!
