I have a building full of old Poulan 361's, 245's, Dayton 2Z462 & 2Z463's! Any ideas where I can find some ORIGINAL Poulan Paint?

Welcome, Poulan Dude!
I think Poulan locked up the recipe, or lost it.:D I never have seen any. The closest match seems to be the Mopar 1970 color Sublime Green Code FJ5.
I know you can have that mixed , but its not cheap!! I have never seen any in rattle can form though.

Gregg,

Paint & 245A

Thanks, For the info I will check it out! Working on a Poulan 245A today with full original "True Poulan Bow Attachment" Have been restoring it for about three weeks. Found a cylinder that came off a broken saw that looks like new! Most of the parts are new also! Will post pics soon!

Please do! Love to see before and afters.....

My favorite of all the Poulans is the Poulan 361 though. I have three of these fully restored Bow Saws and a building full of ones not torn down...

Poulan 245A HI speed issue

Well my 245a starts, idles great, and runs great at half throttle. However at full throttle it dies. I've rebuilt carb and relooked at and reset metering lever several times. Still no change. Not familiar with governor setup and wonder if that's an potential problem. Any ideas? My Dayton runs great and I've switched carbs and the 245A runs great with the Dayton carb.

more 2.3 cu inch: very colourful!

Thanks for the CAD guys!
Seem to come across these little guys up around here, the big ones are elusive.
Here are mine with the 3400 and pp295 46cc replacement engine in back ground.

Working on oiler issues, re-reading all posts including
http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?p=2221003

and have the check valve (part # is 530069142) out of 2 non-oilers but it seems to work as designed(air flow in 1 direction only) Oil delivery tube is flexible and no leaks. Oiler pump check valve is also not plugged and pulls in one direction as well...?
These seem to be pretty simple but still no oil?! Searching for a post about the oil vent pin ( u have to be patient with dial-up) maybe thats my problem???

Any insight would be appreciated

Paul

Bob, I've seen more than one post and one person who solved the governor problem by taking it out and blocking it off. Seems like the easiest way is the take a piece of heavy aluminum foil, ie., disposable pie pan and cut out a disc the same size as the governor orifice and screw the governor back in. I have also seen one other person on AS who advocated the use of JB weld to plug the orifice. seems a bit drastic to me if the pie pan method solves the problem. There are others on the Poulan thread who have used this method successfully.

Nice collection of little saws, Paul! All have chain brakes.. Not that I think they're necessary on 33 & 38 cc saws but they're seldom seen here in the states as they weren't a requirement in those years.

Sounds like you've got the oiler problem on the run. I can't offer any more advice. You didn't mention oil pickup and oiler tubes. I assume you've checked and/or replace them.

Welcome to the site! Good luck reading all the stuff in this thread!

25 Deeeluxe

This was an easy one. Its a low hour early model, 2.1 cubic inch saw. Its a little different than some of the other 25s Ive seen in that it has black plastic (trigger, handle and switch) and the green paint is more "green" than the the very early ones that had almost a yello in the paint. Also cool is the cast aluminum muffler. I polished it on the wire wheel even tho it looks painted silver. I also left the 1/4" setup. I wont be using this one a lot so I decided to keep it original. I cleaned it up, newlines and filter and tilly carb kit. Also new pull cord. Runs nice, noticibly quieter than the Super XXVs. Still needs a little tuning. but is solid for sure.

Yea, Steve, I may do that. Took it off and cleaned it out and replaced it. Revved great for 1 minute then started to run real rich. Reading about the Governor it seems its purpose is to prevent over revving by diverting fuel back into the cylinder, slowing up the saw. I removed plug and it was soaked so I believe that's whats happening. However it keeps running rich so I may block it off and see how it runs. Thanks for input.

Nice little saw ,Joe. Love the 2.3's so i imagine the 2.1's run well also.

The saw is pretty cool but the air filter would not last a day out in the woods. It needs some kind of housing on it to protect it from getting squashed.
Squashed? What do you mean? Nothing ever hits the top of my saws......

He's on Ebay a lot. Some guys have had a problem with him as a buyer. As a seller I think his prices are high.
Bob
You know i noticed a few of his saws while browsing, they are kinda high. I dont think that saw is worth 750 bucks....But it is nice. I was thinking about emailing him to see if he had some guide plates for my 3700.

Poulan 4200

Well here's my 4200 repainted. Runs very good and I need to get decals for it. Having commo problems with Joe at SCS Supply but I'll work it out. In the background is my 5200 that I need to find a replacement carb. Borrowed it for my 4200.

Looks nice man!

Now what did you use for paint did you have to mix your own stuff up?

I would check with site sponsor "chainsawr" before I contacted Hal.
He probably has them but they would be high.
