$15 Poulan Pro 220 (2002 model).
It was not used much at all.

Gave $10 for the saw (missing carb & gasket) & ran across a Walbro WT 391 @ a pawn shop for $5 (was in a box of loose sockets).
Had to clean the fuel inlet screen, but works good.
Replaced all fuel lines, made a carb gasket from a cracker box.

Side muffler mod (closed rear ports) with hillbilly deflector.

Advanced the timing (not quite 1/2 a key but pretty close).

I cut with it a hour or two before mods & the mods made a BIG difference!
Really woke it up!
Much smoother & more power.
14" bar & CRAPPY safety chain.

Runs EXCELLENT!

With a new chain & carb gasket, it should be ready for camping duties.

I LIKE IT!

Buying a ring for poulan 2000. Ipl lists two part no’s based on date code/serial.
1. before Date Code/Serial #1890001 is part no. 530023789
2. After Date Code/Serial #1890001 is part no. 530025875
Since the piston I am using is not original to the saw it’s going in I need to know what difference there is between the two pistons so I can make an educated guess.
Bump anyone?

Anyone interested in a 25 AV project? Has front and rear AV. Maybe part it if no one wants to fix a AV model.

I fixed the recoil to pull it over. No start, guessing spark?

Dont look bad inside covers. Missing clutch cover and af. Fuel line rotted. Piston looks ok through muffler.

First time I seen one come in with duckbill in cap with retainer still there too.

Walbro carb.

Never noticed this part with Taiwan on one before. Maybe I just overlooked it.

I still have one upper CVA av mount, ...don't have the saw anymore.

Post for a guy asking. Poulan 3450 330 3750 380 clutch drum rim sets. These style drums allow you to run replaceable sprocket rims.
The normal to find 2 shoe clutch and the last HD 3 shoe clutch. It’s pricey and harder to find.

My 3750 has that 3 shoe clutch. Poulan really put together a great pro saw with that last push in the early 2000s. The PP330, SP380, 3450 and 3750 are in my top 3 saws to use, meaning any one is in my top 3.

Do the auto oilers on the 245's pump a lot of oil? Been a long time since I had one and I just cannot remember.

I put a 24" D176 bar on my recent aquisition which of I remember correctly is correct. The manual oiler seems to be fine.

If I remove the clutch and the the cover on the oiler is there a seal or just gasket maker?

Thanks

I've been looking locally for a 3.4/3.7/3.8 class of Poulan/Craftsman and think I've got a couple possibles lined up.

Besides for feeling for good compression, and generally looking over the saw for abuse, anything I should check for?

I expect to rebuild carb, rerun fuel line, and clean any candidate.

They are about as simple a saw to work on as can be. The “counter-vibe” system is pretty descent. I’ve had 30+ and only seen a few that had torn isolators, particularly the one behind the clutch. Occasionally the handle has been cracked there, again not common. The fuel lines a easy to replace, carb comes off no problem. Never ever have I had a bad module. The recoil is a common type, the 3700 and 4000 dogs are steel they hold up better the 3800/3400 plastic and break but usually still engage. Oil pumps are pressure driven, not gear, that’s the only drawback but again mine have always worked thumb override are a great feature. Very few complaints on that series. No shortage of parts

One other point to mention on the 34-4000. I’ve had at least 10 over the years with “custom” or “deleted” air filters. None had damage and all were runners. That’s foolish, and I replaced the filters but worth mentioning with regard to the drama around the new 500i. The old saws could/can take more abuse and still work. Eventually it would catch up, but something to be said for finishing the job…

Sorry dont get here to often. Like above said.

I have a 3.7 3700 red, 3.7 3800 red, 3.0 grey which is really a 3.4 3400 for sale.

I'll add this from thread I just did on my chainsaw repair group.
Doing some 3400 3.7 carbs. Got a laugh on the red 3.7 one. How you know when it still has original carb kit in it.

Someone has ask about fulcrum height

Just because diaphragms look good don’t mean squat. I had pulled this carb awhile back to clean the fines out from past owner putting fuel filter on wrong line.
Dias felt and looked great. Would run and idle all day. Till you put in wood. It would run out of mix in the cut. New kit in and it don’t do that anymore.

Thanks Jeremiah.

If you have these saws mentioned for sale, I'd find that interesting to look at in the buy/sell section (are they there?)
I see you're in Ohio, and that probably makes shipping a power head as much as picking up a 'handy man special' locally.
Would be great to have a resource that had a supply of parts for sale. Hope that's you.

Never felt a need to post stuff in the for sale section here (dont sell on ebay either, guys selling there want every last nickle they can soak folks for imo). I sell to locals or guys that contact me mainly or on my chainsaw repair group FB or my old website. Even a few here. I show them pics then. .
Been doing it for many years and works for me. That way only folks wanting stuff contact me and not the clowns tire kicking in a FS thread like they do here.

Yep shipping cost would be what you can pick one up for.

But like the 3 I have the fuel lines, tank lines, duck bills all new. One even just got new carb kit and crankseals. Someone has to pay for the parts and labor.

I just started putting parts back again for these as I dont run these myself. Not many right now.
I just tore a builder down red 3.7 3700 for parts for folks. Sold lot of good stuff off it already.

Lot of parts in these pics sold already. The pulley is pending right now too. But have another 3400 complete set up too.

All, my experience with Jeremiah has been completely positive. Great hard to find Poulan parts, fast shipping, and full transparency. Invaluable knowledge as well. I've been on AS since 2009 and appreciate most all on AS, but especially on Nik's Poulan Thread. I don't know what I'd do without this outlet to learn from. My two cents, Max.

Sold my last running PP445 yesterday to a local (no 445 covers left and this one come with no covers). Makes 4 of those 445 I have sold.
He even wanted my orange covers that I had done up with the predator logo. So I gave them to him. Old pic shows that cover of another local checking it out.

She wasnt pretty. But she had a like new topend still. She had lost a fight with tree early in life.

Only 1 runner in series and a bunch of NOS and used parts left. Bunch of crankcases and cylinders tanks etc too.

Did you find your 202 with good compression, or did you have to fix that to get it running?
I've got a PP295 that wants a new piston & cylinder, which I believe are NA from online parts suppliers.
If you had a good hint on how to source or repair, I'd be all ears.

To all who have a Craftsman 5.2, do they say 5200 on the tag or 5.2? Just curious as I have never had one before. Mine obviously says 5200.

What about paint quality? Do yours have paint on the cylinder? Fuel line and carb? Air filter? Just seems weird to have so much overspray.

Looks like a terrible home respray.

I have no previous knowledge of your saw, but have never seen such ****** workmanship on Craftsman or Poulans.
