I'm starting to think Mark has "people" on the look out for all things Poulan.

You didn't just figure that out did you? I personally think he actually has every location of every Poulan made memorized so when a lookout sees one for sale he already knows model, serial numbers etc...

Talked to the guy again, he showed me the full wrap its brand new looking. Never been on the saw before. He also had a spare p/c new in box, im not sure why he has it but he does. Also has a old cannon bar for it.

Well, go buy it and one of us will pay for it or disclose the location and one of us will pick it up, I ain't far from texas but Mark was first in line.

I need the p/c for a saw I have if you want to buy it and sell to me. In fact just the piston would be fine.

245 Bar Size

Hi Gents,
I don't mean to :deadhorse: here. I know I have seen this info somewhere, but I can't seem to relocate it. I want to get a new bar for my 245.... something pretty big. If I recall correctly Ohio Greg has one with a 28" bar, and that's the size I am looking for.

If I cannot find a bar that fits exactly, I would rather get a bar that needs to be filed slightly as opposed to needing a spacer. I don't have the tools to fab up a spacer, but I can file with the best of 'em.

Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Telemaster, I have a 24" on my 245A. Is and older Oregon Power Match. New Power Match bars will work too, without the spacer. DD176 mount. Bailey's sells them. The Windsor bars will need the spacer. And, large mount Husky bars will work too, with spacers. But those will be off a drive link or two.

Gregg,

Talk about prompt reply. Thanks!

Just looked at Mike Acres site and it looks like the longest bar suggested for a 245 is a 25 inch. A 24" will do nicely.

It may fit, but it's too big for the 245... according to Mike Acres site. As I mentioned in the last entry. Thanks for passing it along though.

A 245A will pull a 28" just fine if thats what you really want. Just for reference, here is a 28" at Baileys.

A 24" can be found here.

The one Brian listed has a 3/8's bar slot and will need a stud spacer to work properly.

I also wouldn't buy anything from that seller, I had bad luck with him before for not listing things right.

The D176 mount is basically the only one that will fit properly without stud spacers or such.

Dang thing wont let me edit my post.

Just wanted to add, be carefull with the seller of the auction that Brian listed. Look at the tip on that bar, its probably not original and is a cheap aftermarket tip.

The one I got from him was that way anyway.
