Another sprkt/drum for 361

Edit: Pulled the trigger on this one. Keeping my fingers crossed it also fits a 361.

By the way, this shop has an Oregon drum for a 361.

Should fit fine, Driver. AFAIK 400 is same as 361 with larger displacement. Oregon's site lists them has having the same sprocket.

Poulan 203

Well, heres the last of 3 saws I recently acquired. This is a model 203, basically the same as a 306. 59cc, suppose to have the Power Sharp & compression release, both unfortunately missing. There are a few things on this, that are a little different also.

First off, and I didn't even notice it when I got these saws, is the lack of the usual on/off switch at the back of the case. This one is incorporated into the throttle lock button on top. Back position is run and forward to stop. Push down and forward to use lock to start.

Has a points ignition, with a yellow coil, and a smaller gauge plug wire. A few minor things also, like a different style fuel cap, no duckbill, the choke knob is a little different also.

There are not many small shops left. I do know of a place that I will be checking when the guy calls me back. If there turns out to be something there I will let you know. I will need to have a talk with ED he has been holding out on me I see. He has been sick and the last time I talked to him he said he was closing up.

Finally got spark out of my 4000

Not sure if this was the cause or makes sense, but after several attempts to obtain spark and testing with my ohm meter I thought that the coil wasn't grounded. I removed the coil retaining screws and cleaned them out. Replaced the coil and srews, checked with my Ohm meter and got a constant reading. Replaced the recoil and voila I had spark. What gave me the grounding idea was my local Stihl dealer told me to remove the ground wire from the coil and see if I had spark. Seeing as how there is no ground wire on the coil I assumed something had to provide ground. Only means I could see was the screws. Am I all wet? However it did work .

I have been down that stretch of Rt. 1 many times but never paid notice to the shop. Ed actually responded to an ad I ran on CL looking for saws and I decided to take a look. If you come across any other shops or large grouping of saws, let me know.

Yup, PITA when you have to track down the interchange information on your own. I went by a listing on Ebay for the same item.

Greg that thing is in good shape.

Thing is it does have a compression release. It is incorperated into the throttle lock as well. Look right above the muffler and you will see it there. This setup is not the best out there.

Look closely at the fuel cap again will you? Is there not a big rubber flap in it? Kinda like a very big duckbill, I think mine has that.

Also please tell me what model # the HS carb is on it.

5200 bar and chain

I am hoping to put new fuel lines in the Dayton 5200 tomorrow that I picked up last week. It was just a power head, I have a clutch cover on the way but need a bar and chain. I would like to go with a 24" one, anyone have a source?

A sprocket cross reference may be usefull to know what other brand to look for besides the one in your hand.

Alas, the Oregon 10617 is not listed. Must be really old number.

3200 muffler ???

Got a 3200 going tonight and pulled the muffler because it was as usual,rusty and ugly.. burned it out and was looking at the cage inside considering opening it up..
then i asked WHERE does the exhaust come out ??
six pieces all cleaned up ready for paint and i cant find a HOLE in the durned thang !!
how do you mod a muffler without an outlet ??

It's an Oregon D176 mount, Gary. Other bar mounts will work including Homelite, used with a S-spring or other spacer.
