The connector is there so you can separate the recoil side of the case with the fuel tank inside it without having to pull the fuel line out of the tank. You can just use one piece or you'll need to remove the gas tank from the side cover if you want to remove the recoil.

And, you want that connector to end up right at the notch in the housing. Slide it one way or the other so that the fuel tank end is clamped.

Right Mark?

Have a pretty good idea why these are so popular. 170+ comp and loud.

Surprisingly light for 74cc.

Nice saw, however I would never recommed touching the bar while the saw is running. Lol

I personally have never heard of 170lbs comp on these saws. Even with a new top end that is good and seated. Maybe something extra has been done to this saw?

My gauge is getting quite old and often question its accuracy. Will grab a reading with another gauge to verify. It sure feels stout though.

Nice vid, mweba! Saw King would be proud of you. :hmm3grin2orange:

LOL Hello and welcome to Poulan talk............

Gonna have to have a talk with the tool man today. You were spot on. Gauge is about 13 psi high according to my acron and the air compressor. Cylinder does look nice though. 162 psi in comparison to 175.

Turns out the 3.3 will be a parts saw. Ate something hard.

Personally, I think 140psi is the norm for early '70s metal body saws.

In my collection:
Poulan 361.........140psi
Homelite XL-12........140psi
Homelite XL-12........125psi
Mac PM10-10S........140psi
Mac 10-10A.........125psi
Pioneer 1200........115psi

Craftsman guage checked against my air compressor's guage.

See signature.

wrist pin clips

Thought I'd canabilize a 3000 I had and put the good P&C on an old 2700 which has a shot P&C. How the heck do you get the recoil side wristpin clip out? There is no slot similar to the clutch side so it seems impossible to remove it. Svc. manual says to use needle nose pliers but there is no way that'll work. I'm almost thinking of leaving it in and just removing the clutch side clip and then remove and reinstall the piston from the clutch side. I would liike to hear of any tricks however in removing that dang recoil side clip.

I use a small screwdriver or pick. Some clips have ears on them so the pliers will work on them. Once it starts I put my thumb over the hole, supposedly keeping the clip there rather than who knows where, and giving the screwdriver a target to draw blood from.

162 is still up there for those saws in my experiance. Around 150 is as high as I have ever seen them. My Dayton/245 got a NOS P/C and it only went about 140 after it was done. Might be a little higher now that it got some run time on it, but I dont expect anything over 150 on it.

Did you put it to the wood yet? Let us know how she does. Almost all of my 245's and 306's no longer have a functioning governor anymore just so you know.

Yea, that's what I did on the clitch side. Have to try it on the other side.

Picked up a new gauge today.

Yes I got her to some wood this afternoon. That governor has to go. Is it a check ball style? Have not investigated yet.
