Most of me wants to say you two worry too much, but time will tell on my saw.

LOL!:msp_laugh:

My wife sure thinks I do. In this case, time will indeed tell. I'm pretty persnickity (sp?) about air leaks in two stroke engines. Seen way too many lean-siezed engines. I'll bet Mark has too. The important thing with this saw will be to watch for a 'wandering tune'. If it suddenly needs a large change in the HS side, then I'd certainly suspect an air leak.

Yep. And its spelled close enough. Some things are better done than done right, ask my ex. She knows everything.

Ill be using this saw a lot so if I notice the wandering tune, at least Ill no where to look. On a side note Im kinda mad at myself. Ive bought about 10 saws from ebay. Never had any real surprises. The last 4 I have bought are as follows:
S25DA-Descrip said it ran but needed carb cleaned. Saw looked clean, later model ss ign. I get it pull muffler, blown p/c:msp_angry:
Then I find a CVA with a broken handle but a runner.
CVA-Totally locked up. The coil wasnt even on the saw!
3400 and a micro both scored p/cs. Plating chipped off pistons. BOTH.
Nobodys fault but my own.

eBay is a crap shoot at best. You don't roll the dice, you don't get a chance at a lot of cool stuff.

That's the ebay saw game. I got two fantastic old Homelites for bargain prices (one turned out to be from a member here, the other is the C5 in my avy pic).............then got burned on a "good runner" after that. Took about 4 months of back-and-forth for the seller to finaly make that one somewhat right.

Since then, I've only bought parts on feebay. I've gotten the rest of my saws from forum members and CL listings. The members were all guys I know and trust. The CL saws were either free, or were inspected carefuly by me before I handed over the cashola. I did gamble a smidge by buying a saw 'shortblock' from an ebay seller recently (EZ6). I had little enough into it that I wouldn't be too steamed if it turned out to be a write-off. Turned out, the P/C were great and the rest of the shortblock was better than expected. Again......................that's the nature of the game...

Yep know the feeling got burned on my 3700 deal, many small issues with the saw, like a broken crank case.

It's just my opinion Mark not saying that it's right lol. The 655 that I had ran like no other saw I've ever owned.

I got old faithful yesterday. Seems to run pretty good, I have no wood laying out back to put it in right now but I'll fix that here shortly cutting with my old green saw!

So what did ya think about my brass lamp switch knob for my oiler button? It's been that way for about 10 years. I've thought about changing but this way it will never break again.

What mix did you run in it Mark, 32:1 or 40:1 or what? Just want to make sure it's tuned to what I run.

Dang that got there fast. Yeah I thought it was running quite well. I had 50-1 synthetic in it, thats all I use now days since this ethanol BS came down. You very well may have to readjust for another mixture.

Good luck with that. ;)

OK I have a video on you tube couldn't get it on here sorry. Before I had started it I took the carb apart again. I had thought about it for a while the guy before me had rebuilt it and when I had did it I had put everything in the way it came out. On the metering side of the carb the bottom diaphragm was backwards. I had put it back together seems to flood out when starting and still has the same problem. I had cleaned the fuel filter and would like to get a new one and also a new fuel line. The carb is a walbro WJ20A it also has a E9 on it. Any ideas?

Put a Walbro SDC 80 on it. Trust me, much more performance. ;)

I run 40:1 synethetic and it seemed to run fine with it but have not put it in the wood yet.

Absolutely true. I have had more hits than misses. A 3700 that was a 4000, a mint 2.3 craftsman, mint 360 Homie, to name the most recent. I wont let this turn me off to ebay. I was just disapointed last night. I had just opened that cva hoping I had a good top end for the other S25 I with a scored p/c and the CVA was even worse!:dizzy:

Pp 655

Well I won my bid for a PP655 on Ebay. Sure hope I didn't get hoodwinked, though the seller has a solid history. Paid more than I had hoped but shock will wear off in a week. That's if its in good shape and runs well. Time will tell how I made out.

Bob

Thanks Mark. When it arrives I'll do an inspection and see what I got. Wonder about the carb change recommendation in a previous post, I forget by whom.

Congrats on the 655. I mentioned about the SDC 80. I have a few of these saws in Pioneer colors. If your saw is running great, I'd leave it alone. I did notice more top end and more rpm's out of the sdc than the wj.

I wanted to get in on that 655 but it did not say BP on the air cleaner box and he didn't seem forthright when I asked him some questions. Good luck with it and I hope everything works out on it.

I hope so. I asked about the P&C which he said was in fine shape. Also said he replaced decomp which he said was leaking as comp was 120. Hope he's honest. His feedback seemed to indicate he was honest so lets hope so. Thanks
