lol, all I gotta say is make sure you don't leave anything out when you re-assemble.....(even though you leak tested the crankcase and it was tight as a drum....)

I left the damn reed block gasket out. put it in, it fired on the first pull. reswapped flywheels and still ran like a champ. I'm a dumbass.:bang::bang:

Way to man up there buddy! Makes sense now that you mention it.

I might as well tell you I forgot to put the whole reed assembly in the 306SA when I put it back together. I found it real quickly when I went to put the carb on and found it laying next to it.

At least I caught it!

Heck N ick ive done many stupid things working on saws. Tried to start one with no fuel line. Don't know why it wouldn't start!

Bob

Ugh I would never do that. :hmm3grin2orange: Well I might as well admit I put that tank that you sent me on the 5200 the other day and put it all back together before I realised I forgot the line from the tank to the carb. :bang:

I had the opportunity to run some of the larger Poulans yesterday. Now I'm having CAD attacks. :D

5200 get to you did it?

Just got this.

What should I do with it? Feels like another rebuild is on the way. :msp_biggrin: Thanks Chris!

Yeah Mark that 5200 did get to me. The factory muffler outlet was a thing of beauty. Where in the heck did those engineers get off to??? They sure ain't workin for Stihl. :dizzy:

Good job!

Cool, a red 361, that makes it OK to paint mine red. Lime green (or any green) is not my favorite color.:hmm3grin2orange:

Carl, its your saw you can paint it however you want to! That Dayton is more orange then green though.

Lime green don't interest me much either but I have come to admire it on a Poulan saw! It's a thing of beauty it is!

You could give it to me LOL

I could pitch for the Cubs, or play center for the Lakers also. :msp_biggrin:

How about that sound coming from that muffler!

No, as far as I can tell there were no relabled 4000's.

You will just have to accept the lime green if you want one. (and you know you do!)

Yes.....yes I do.:D

Unless I score a real cherry 4000, I'll most likely end up painting it up like the later green/black saws. If it's cherry (not likely, but you never know) then I'll leave it as-is.

Hey! That model saw looks vaguely familiar to me.;) How are the innards on that one? I might be able to supply you with a good P/C if your in need of it. I been saving a piston and cylinder in case I ever needed one. But since I have 4 of these saws, the NEED is fading. LOL
The 4000 has always been my favorite all around use saw.

That being said. I FINALLY have a 4200 coming, and a red Craftsman 306. Why I bought that, I don't know, just different i guess.:D If the 4200 impresses me half as much as the 5200, I'll be tickled!
Gregg,

Gregg,

Gregg, thanks but I think the P/C are fine, no marks to speak of, more of a stain on the piston is all. Lots of white corrosion coming from the crank and its froze solid. I have a crank to use, so it will probably just need cleaned up and new crank brgs, thrust washers and a set of rings.

Might be a while till I get to this one though.

You will like the 4200, trust me on that. I have always liked the red 306's so no need to explain that.

I have no doubt, I will like the 4200. The only 4200 I ever ran was one owned by that guy with all the "green junks" from Ky. :hmm3grin2orange: They were always impressive!
