Ah! Thanks

they are a lil diferent i tried to make a points saw work with solid state with brackets it kept shaking loose from all the tork... i coulda slid a cylinder on and used a solid state coil but the fly wheel was different so thats why i used what i did ....i may just put it on the bay for parts so i dont have to look at it.... or i may take the cva parts and put them on one of my sda green ones thats got ruff paint and put a stack on it if i can just to see what the difference is in viberation i have not had a cva one yet so i was curious...im sure it wont run long with the score it developed so fast...To bad you cant just buy new parts sure would make life more easy,,,,Im not sure what i want to do with it yet i still have not figured where he put the oversize mounting bolt on it... ya know that was dont just to hold the cover on it.... cause they aint no way a bar will go on with that big thing there LMAO!

You could ask one of the Poulan guys you know from the Arboristsite to clean that piston and cylinder up for you.
Or you could ask him if he knows the whereabouts of a points P/C.
Or you could just say "To heck with it" and throw it up on a shelf somewhere.

that would be super cool!

An 8500 just sold 3 days ago on eBay for $415 + shipping. It was sold by an AS member. It was in good running condition and looked very good cosmetically. Decals are terrible on these saws especially on the clutch side, so that's not a real good indication of what the saw is like or how it's been treated.

I have it straight from the Horses mouth that the 8500 decals are the same as done and should be up for grabs very soon.

another impulse question

Still trying to get my PP365 to run.Installed new carb along with new fuel line and tank vent line and now my question is where is the impulse line on this saw? The carb only has two lines going to it so does the impulse come directly through the intake gasket?

Dan the fitting on the "top" of the carb is for the impulse line and it fastens to a fitting at the bottom of the cyl.

The vent line just hangs free, not attached to the carb at all.

PM me your # again as I lost it!

Did both packages arrive safe and sound??

I have not seen my office since early Thursday morning and per the tracking numbers they are there so I have them waiting for Monday morning early.

That sounds like a very telling pair of quotes to me!

Yeah, that saw is now in Louisiana, it'll get my usual treetment, go through it, clean up the ports, and then run it like I stole it.......

I'm having withdrawals today. I gave a saw to my BIL yesterday. He needed something bigger than the cheesy little plastic Stihl 021 he has to cut firewood with. After careful consideration, weighing his needs against my inventory of saws, I gave him my 3400 with a 20" bar. It is a very dependable and powerful saw that will serve him well if he takes care of it. Yeah I know....but he's out of work....and well....
